HAPPENING NOW: passover seder from our comrades in columbia's liberated zone/gaza solidarity encampment. this encampment is a profoundly religious space. we've seen muslim protesters praying multiple times a day, a christian communion was held, and multiple jewish prayers/celebrations have taken place. solidarity is a beautiful thing, palestine will be free.🖤🇵🇸
edit: @saffronlesbian was kind enough to make an image description for this post!
[id: a tweet from Arielle Angel @/ArielleLAngel with a photo of a large group of university students, most of whom are wearing surgical or kN95 masks, sit on a large tarp on the ground, inside of the circle formed by several tents. in the middle of the circle is a collection of several containers of food, a protest sign that reads, "pesach means solidarity and liberation" (note: pesach is the hebrew word for passover), and a person kneeling and holding up the seder plate, upon which can prominently be seen a boiled egg and a large orange. the tweet's caption reads, " Explaining the seder plate at the Colombia encampment. These students truly embody the meaning of Passover in their provisional seder and their commitment to liberation." /end id.]
“you being anti-israel is just internalized antisemitism!”-actually I find it more antisemitic that you’re conflating my ethnic identity with a genocidal government
After a few days of Student protest by campus occupation, Columbia University students pass divestment referendum, divesting from Israelu companies and university. Students at Columbia University, NYC, have been occupying the campus in demand to be heard on divesting their schools interests from the State of Israel.
Where ever our feet are. Jews could’ve lived in Palestine, Zionism didn’t need to create a brutal regime State and murder thousands for Jews to live in Palestine. We do not need to occupy in order to exist.
Learned today that DeviantArt is owned by Wix, an Israeli company listed under boycott by the BDS Palestinian human rights organization.
Under Wix, who acquired DeviantArt in 2017, DV has been pushing Israeli occupation propaganda and allowing Generative Ai to completely takeover the platform and be sold on it.
It’s clear that under Wix, DeviantArt DOES NOT CARE whatsoever about the art or the artists it was originally created to cater towards. It only cares for profit.
Even if you are not well-versed on the current politics surrounding the Israeli Occupation and the erasure of Palestine for some reason, everyone can agree that Wix has changed DeviantArt for the worse and the best case scenario is that they sell it to someone who actually cares for art, not profit.
I absolutely adore to death so much of the art there, but for now I will stop posting my art there and I suggest that other artists do the same. They DO NOT DESERVE YOUR ART.
Please transition towards using alternatives like Tumblr, Insta, Twitter, and Newgrounds. Newgrounds especially is the best alternative to DeviantArt. Please suggest other alternatives as well.
Those who protest against Israel's genocide are punished for antisemitism.
But for some strange reason, authorities have never cracked down on antisemitism any other time. Any other time, antisemitism is considered free speech.
It's almost as if they know damn well that protesting against Israel is not antisemitism.
🚨 Students at Harvard University launched an encampment in support of Gaza in Harvard Yard moments ago, calling for an end to Harvard's moral and material complicity in the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
Harvard has invested over $200 million of its over $51 billion endowment in companies with ties to zionist settlements in the West Bank, while most of its investments to the zionist entity are kept secret.
The students are demanding financial transparency regarding investments related to the zionist entity, as well as genocide and occupation in Palestine; divestment from these investments and reinvestment in Palestine; and dropping all charges against student activists.
The University has suppressed student voices in support of Palestine time and time again, suspending the Palestine Solidarity Committee just this week on baseless grounds. They have also enabled attacks on pro-Palestinian students from the media and politicians. Today, the students say enough is enough, and that they will no longer tolerate their institution's support for genocide.
This brings the number of ongoing encampments to 19, with more to come.
