Are these two still together or was "the best thing that never happened" about him?

They never said they were "officially" together but in the summer of 2012 (during Warped) there was a lot evidence of them being more than friends. Unfortunately they stopped talking pretty much after Warped and Alex went back to Lisa. So it would make sense with timing and everything for "The Best Thing" to be about Alex, although we can't know for sure.
