The rustling in the bushes ahead intensified, knocking Dedede out of his button-mashing stupor. Bandana and Ribbon perked up as well, just in time to see a massive purple wolf shoot out from the bush and grab Kirby in its maw.

"Kirby!" shrieked Ribbon, already fluttering after the dog. It whipped its silver-furred head around just long enough to snarl at her, before running into the underbrush with Kirby's little friend hot on its heels.

"What is that thing?" Bandana Dee yelled, him and Dedede dashing after the chaos.

"Some kinda weirdass dog?" Dedede guessed with a shrug. "Whatever it is, we gotta save Kirby from it!"

"Yeah..." The sounds of fighting came from up ahead, and the two picked up the pace. They got there just in time to be blinded by a bright light, their respective creatures leaping forward into it.

When the light cleared, the wolf was laying on the ground unconscious, surrounded by a new variety of odd creatures.

"For what it's worth, it's called a Sangloupmon," the gold, winged one perched on top of the canine's prone form offered helpfully.

"It's been a bit since the last message, huh?" noted Ribbon, holding Pip under one arm while using the other to pull out a small rectangular device.

"...I wonder why your message thing is a different shape from ours," murmured Bandana, looking at it and pulling out his own blue device. "Maybe it's a different model or something?"

"I guess..." Ribbon put it back in her pocket to better hold Pip, affectionately squishing the little bird. He squeaked in light protest, while Kirby up ahead began peering into a bush.

Dedede: "Huh? Oh, yeah, you mean Riceball 'n Pip? Yeah, they were just...there when we woke up. Ribbon got attached, heh..."

[She pouts, hugging her Poromon closer. It squeaks indignantly.]

"O-okay, we really need to find King Dedede and Meta Knight," said Bandana, scooping up his spear and putting the little blue device under his namesake headwear.

"Poyo!" Kirby agreed, darting into the undergrowth with Cupimon trailing behind him. Bandana followed, the Tokomon trudging along as well. Something rustled in the bushes ahead, and Bandana warily lifted his spear, until he heard a familiar voice.

"Novadamn branches..."

"King Dedede!" called Bandana, just in time to see Dedede shoving foliage aside to make room for himself and Ribbon.

"Ugh... What just happened?"

"Poyo..."

Bandana Dee slowly sat up, looking around at his unfamiliar surroundings. A tangled jungle canopy stretched above him, and when he looked to the side he could see a crystal-clear river. In front of him was some sort of odd device on a keychain, which he picked up to get a better look at.

He looked up to ask Kirby something, such as "where in Nova's name are we", but hesitated at the sight of some creature he'd never seen before poking Kirby. It glanced up at him, perplexed, before resuming its poking.

"Where...what..?" Bandana sat there, at a loss for words, before realizing the device in his hands had lit up. A message in a language he couldn't comprehend scrolled past on it.

Once the message faded, a single blinking cursor remained.

And began to type.
