Good tips to prepare for summer!

Lolita Fashion Summer Pro-Tips

I know most lolitas may have heard these tips before, but I think they are worth repeating as the summer heats up.

1. Wear ankle socks or tights instead of wearing knee socks.

2. Wear your natural hair, rather than a wig. Consider wearing your hair up in pigtails, a ponytail, braids, or a bun to keep the back of your neck cool.

3. Reduce the number of layers you wear by wearing an op or jsk with a thin sweater.

4. If you prefer to wear a blouse under jsks consider investing in cropped and/or chiffon blouse such as this one from Infanta. I own this one, and I have say it’s very airy and comfortable.

5. Another option for a jsk is to wear a peignoir over it instead, Like this.

6. Carry a tote bag or a small, purse-like backpack so you can keep a bottle of water, sunscreen, sunglasses and other summer essentials with you on outdoor meets.

7.If you are going to an outdoor meet-up, wear straw hat with a wide brim and/or carry a parasol.

8. Wear a pair of light pajama or cotton athletic shorts instead of traditional bloomers underneath your petticoat.

9. Speaking of petticoats, wear only one petticoat at a time.

10. Consider investing in a hoop skirt or cage skirt to use as a summer substitute petticoat. I own this sort of light petticoat/hoop skirt hybrid from FanPlusfriend. The hoop is removable and adjustable. I have to say that the poof on it is nice and it keeps me cool, but it does flatten when you sit because the hoop is doing most of the work maintaining the poof. So, It’s not a perfect replacement for a standard petticoat, but it works okay for me.
