Trying to figure out how I want to draw younger Miklan. His hair is hard for me to get down. I want to give him unruly bangs that are sort of an unkempt version of Matthias with the addition of a wavy ponytail. I like the idea of his brows being somewhat thinner than Sylvain’s. His cheekbones don’t really come in until further adulthood. I would say he’s in his early 20s in these doodles? Haven’t experimented with the scars and if I want to have them earlier or later on for him.
Obviously, I love the idea of him in puffy sleeved, loose tunics, and I’m realizing I need to study how to draw frills in order to fully express him how I want to. I’ll be practicing that along with coloring. I got my hands on paints, markers, and colored pencils, and I’ve never colored before so Miklan will likely be destroyed in the experimental process.

Sylvain fear headcanons
Just wanted to jot down a couple headcanons I have of my basic fave.
Sylvain having a fear of deep water, enclosed spaces, and snow storms due to the attempts Miklan made at his life.
Being pushed into a well multiple times and often being forgotten and calling out for help only for no one to hear. Spending hours panicking and wondering if he should just drown himself to get it over with.
Sylvain shuts down if suddenly thrown into deep waters, even if it’s just a spring. His body shuts down and he goes into panic. He keeps this a secret from most, but Felix and Dimitri have witnessed the episodes. Dimitri, being the one who’s more familiar with the context of it all, is able to deescalate the fear minimally.
Fear of enclosed spaces is a byproduct of being pushed into wells, being left locked in cluttered storage units, and the like. If it’s dark, his anxieties worsen. He much prefers wide rooms so he can be aware of what’s around him and he takes care to notice every detail. If he’s in a room, he’s going to make note of any and all escape routes in case he does get locked in or if the situation calls for an alternate exit.
Another fear caused by Miklan’s interventions is a deep rooted fear of snow and snowstorms. Usually, Sylvain is able to keep calm, but the growing dread as the sky grays and the howling becomes deafening can throw him into an anxiety attack. During winter periods, he keeps his presence outside as limited as possible unless ordered otherwise. He is able to hide the anxiety, but there are often times where he needs to stop and take a moment to breathe to collect himself.
His anxiety is quiet. His heart pounds and his breath hitches. He’s usually able to calm himself down before it gets too bad. However, there are occasions where the panic is too much for him to handle he starts to spiral. His hitched breaths turn into a full blown hyperventilation episode. He begins to run cold but sweat profusely. Light headedness often occurs when he’s in an enclosed space.
Sometimes, the episodes are so bad that he gets flashbacks to a particular incident and starts mumbling to himself, freaking out. It’s like he’s transported back to the memory and can’t break out of it. Only Dimitri has witnessed these episodes, and it’s nothing Sylvain wants to talk about after.
