Hopefully, she thought, the roll of her eyes masked the hurt and the disappointment that flickered across her features in the moments that followed his response, which she hadn't expected. She expected sympathy, not to the cliche extent because Rafe didn't seem the type that would drop everything and coddle her, but something at least. She was wrong, however, and now, she regretted opening up to him, so much so that she wished she hadn't.

rafe let a smirk shift his lips up the moment she settled on his lap. his hands stayed still on her waist as he positioned her into facing him, until one of them slowly moved up to touch her chin. god, she drove him crazy so damn effortlessly it was almost pathetic of him to admit it. “hm, you’ve been the best girl... even though we both know you tend to prefer punishments better than reward,” his smirk widening, he pulled her closer by her chin so he could plant a heated kiss on her lips. “hm, spain... good shot, juni. now, can you guess where specifically? you’re so close to it yet...”
