Nakata revivals GAME/Triangle-era sound this time, I know it's not innovative but it works, I have no complain.
As quickly as I moved on from "Time Warp", I liked the vibe it went for, even if the execution wasn't as good as it could have been. At least it felt new for Perfume and Nakata, and a step in the right direction from most of Future Pop and Cosmic Explorer.
"Polygon Wave" really is just "Polyrhythm", but nowhere near as tight as a whole, and I think this is what had me like 'OH THIS IS GREAT' initially - because the quality of Perfume's singles has been so raggedy over the past few years, that I was just glad to hear something that sounded good and like their old shit. But the more I listen to "Polygon Wave", the more I'm like 'This isn't even a whole song, and its lazy'. They didn't even have to butcher edit the song down when they performed it on The Music Day, because the song sounds like a butcher edit down by default. A hook, no verse and a middle-8 that comes in so early?!
Perfume's sound should be so much further along than it is now. I want more than Game re-hashes. But that's probably just me.
