Where I'm At
Where I’m At
Hello, it’s been a little second. I felt the urge to hear my nails clack on my keyboard so here I am, writing out a blog post. Seriously tho, I want to do better with keeping you all updated on my journey and where I’m at in life. I have been personally working on being more transparent with myself and I’ve been doing fairly well but there is definitely some doors I’m not ready to open yet. I’m…

Movement
Wow, a blog post. I haven’t even been up here in months but honestly I like it that way. I want to write only when I feel moved to do so & man I’ve been all in my feels these past few months. However right now, I feel like I’ve hit the iceberg and my mental is sinking. I find my thoughts being more cynical and negative and I haven’t been able to find the source. Everything and Everyone irritates…

Juicing
So I’m just going to jump right in, I Love Juicing ! LOVE It ! It is the easiest and tastiest way to get all of your vitamins, vegetables and fruit servings at once. I love the benefits of juicing as well as the different recipes you can come up with. I have NEVER been one to follow rules or read recipes, if I have a general idea of how something works or how it is made I’m pretty good at…

Turmeric Mask
So I get tons of questions about my skin & how I maintain it. It always makes me feel so good because I think my skin is shit, but don’t we all ?
Anyways, I woke up this morning with a huge pimple on my face (results from eating the wrong shit) and also because Mother Nature was not my friend this month. I decided to make a mask that I recently came across from the beautiful Farah Dhukai; if you…

Florida
So I recently went to Florida to visit my best friend, it honestly was one of the most needed vacations of my life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I stayed for a full week, we laid out at the beach, drank wine, underwent a “hurricane” & took a trip to Atlanta. We cooked every night, drank more red wine and even had a paint night.

During my vacay I decided to move back down south to ATL after my lease ends in NY. This 2019…

Seattle, Washington
So I recently got lucky with a 3 day trip to Seattle for work, I was really excited about the trip so naturally I invited my mom on the trip with me. We had 24hrs to explore the city which honestly is more than enough time to get a feel of a new area. Our flight got in around 9pm and we didn’t get to the hotel until about 10pm. My crew and I walked to an amazing glass bridge once we got to the…

Detoxing
I have been in such a weird space lately where I feel like my world is getting away from me a little bit, feeling a tad bit depressed and even sad, depending on the day. My mood is definitely “Cranes in The Sky” right now because I have literally tried everything to fix it. Shopping is always my go to but I ended up feeling upset because I spent too much $$$, I even took myself on a date but the…

Thrifty
So everyone loves a good deal, even the people that “got it like that”. It’s safe to say, saving money is a universal goal, as it should be. One of the best and guaranteed ways to “save money” is to go THRIFTING.
As I have mentioned before I live in the great state of NY, where everything is expensive as hell but the Thrifting is unmatched. You can find a range of thrift styles from designer…

Is anyone else scissor happy like me? or am I alone in this self sabotaging category. They say the first step in an addicts recovery is admitting that they have a problem. I have lost count on how many times I have cut my hair in the past 2 years. I want to say 3 times but that doesn’t even seem correct, idk. My issue is my hair is thick, curly and unruly; so at a certain part of growth I decide it’s too much to handle so, I chop. I am finally in a state of mind where growth is good, growth is needed. I am learning to sit on my hands and just be, because the seasons are starting to change and my shedding ritual is starting soon and my favorite thing to do is cut ties with anything that’s not nailed to the grown, I blame the free spirit in me. Your hair carries energy and for me cutting it off signifies new life, new energy, bringing in anew. However I’ve been in a great space this year, it has been a very nurturing year; I’ve been blessed with so many things that I strongly feel like this is my year for growth and prosperity.
With that I will share some of the things I did to help my hair grow, things I do to enhance my curl pattern and how I keep myself from cutting it. The main thing I do to refrain from committing the “big chop” is hiding my scissors, but honestly I just put my effort into other things, cleaned more, sage’d my ass off and focused my energy on my fitness and overall health.
To enhance your curl pattern, when you “wash” your hair FINGER COMB your hair! this is so important! it’s really easy to do while in the shower and, this will help completely change your curl over time, it’s also a great way to detangle your hair and prevent shedding. Using a knot brush (white girl brush) is okay in some cases but not ideal for everyday use, I had to learn that the hard way. I was pulling out my curls and destroying my elasticity. Another tip if you are doing a wash and go, finger combing your product through while in the shower is less of a mess and you get to cover every inch of your curls while your hair is soaking wet. Idk why but my curls always come out better when I do it this way. I don’t diffuse my hair, I’m an air-dry kinda gal but if you diffuse it will still come out beautiful too, after you break the seal.
To help my hair grow I always keep it moisturized with moderation, and when I do “wash it” it is always a co-wash with deep conditioners or hair masque. I wash my hair with shampoo every 2-3 months or whenever I feel like the product build up is too much, I am definitely in touch with my hair’s specific needs and I listen to what it is showing me, by touch, feel, and luster. You can over moisturize your hair, that is a real thing so getting into a hair routine will help with that. Your hair is a plant that needs a break from food and nutrients once and a while. Just like everything in life; balance is key. My hair naturally grows fast which is great because I am sometimes very impatient, but who isn’t! I will list my favorite hair products down below and also the oils and techniques I use.
Oils & Moisturizer:
1. Shea Butter
2. Vitamin E Oil
3. Argan Oil
4. Castor Oil
5. Tea Tree Oil
6. Mint Almond Oil
Products:
1. Deva Curl Ultra Define Gel
2. Deva Curl No Poo & Conditioner
3. The Mane Choice 24k Glistening Gel
4. Nairobi Wrapp-It Foaming Lotion
5. Design Essential Natural’s hair line products
Techniques/Tips:
1. FINGER COMB!
2. Put oil on wet hair
3. Mix Oil and Product when doing wash&go
4. Finger Comb wash&go products in shower
5. Day Off? Oil Hair, throw it in a hair wrap & Go!

So, what do you prefer? Do you like heels or sneakers for your everyday style? Do you like to mix it up and try on different personalities, or are you someone like me who until this year hasn’t owned a pair of sneakers in what feels like an century.
Heels to me are magical, they can elevate your height and your confidence even with a 5 minute try on in a department store. Thank you Catherine de Medici for being ahead of your time and creating a monumental movement with making high heels an actual thing. I buy heels more than I buy sneakers, if I do indulge in sneakers I make it count at least with a good brand or good style.
I love Converse’s with high socks or Nike’s for simply working out. I don’t know much about sneakers, and I’m not afraid to admit that. My best friends however, know everything about them. I always send sneaker options to them and ask “are these cool?” because I have absolutely no idea. I like things that are cute and simplistic or complex and gaudy.
I judge the hell out of fashion overall but my shoes? everything has to be when it comes to shoes. They have to be perfect, perfectly crafted and properly structured. I am kind of a Nazi when it comes to fashion so if something is not right via stitching, the shades of color used, the format, how it looks on the foot, is it too bulky?, does it crease too much?, what is the heel ratio to the body of the shoe?, is the heel thick enough?, does it look cheap?, how durable is the shoe? It’s exhausting because I am OCD about it, but the list goes on.
Heels are more interesting than sneakers, no doubt. the craftsmanship of heels are works of art; the bells and whistles they can poses, the numerous styles they come in, the heel heights and widths you can pick from, the level of quality, the different fabrics and textures. A good heel for me is equivalent to how a warmed up honey bun taste. it is sincerely my haven, I love to shop and I only work, to shop it feels like.
I take pride in my purchases, especially my shoes, I still keep my specialty shoes in the original boxes with the stuffing in them, stored in the dust bags. One day I will own every shoe in the world and build a shrine of a closet to worship them in. that is a goal.
Heels or Sneakers? So, what do you prefer? Do you like heels or sneakers for your everyday style? Do you like to mix it up and try on different personalities, or are you someone like me who until this year hasn't owned a pair of sneakers in what feels like an century.

Breakfast of the Day
Another day, another Smoothie Bowl. I love how I feel after I eat a smoothie bowl, the energy it gives you is something you have to experience for yourself.
This particular smoothie bowl is my absolute favorite, it’s called a Matcha Key Lime Pie bowl. I got the recipe from one of my favorite vegan places in Norfolk, VA called Town Center Cold Pressed. They didn’t up and give me the recipe,…
