Could you do a post on figure skating jargon? Thanks! ^_^
Thanks for asking!
I’m not sure precisely what kind of jargon you mean, but here are some common jargon/slang terms you might hear skaters and fans use.
Flutz - a wrong-edge Lutz jump. This is improper technique.
Lip - a wrong-edge flip jump. Also improper technique and usually mutually exclusive of each other (eg: a skater with a great Lutz might have a lip, but a skater with a great flip might have a flutz.)
Short/SP - short program
Free/Long/FS - free skate/long program
FD - free dance
SD - short dance
Twizzle - an element in ice dance (can be used in footwork for singles/pairs) involves rapid, moving, controlled rotation in an upright position (generally)
pop - to bail out of the jump after only one or two rotations. Not necessarily poor technique, but coaches really don’t like it when their skaters do this (and scoring-wise, it’s usually better to rotate and fall than to pop and stay upright).
UR (under-rotated) - a jump that is landed more than a quarter revolution short of full rotation, but less than a half. Bad technique.
Downgrade - a jump that is landed a half rotation short or more (basically, landed forwards). Extremely bad technique. Contrary to popular opinion, a downgraded jump does not mean the jump is designated the next number of rotations down; for the scoring purposes, a triple toe downgrade is NOT the same thing as a double toe (and appears differently in the scoring system: 3T
Carrot - a slang term for the symbol for under-rotation,
technical panel - made up of five people: a Technical Controller, Technical Specialist and Assistant Technical Specialist who identify the elements, and a Data Operator and Replay Operator who input the calls into the system and attach video replay to elements for the panel’s review. The technical panel identifies elements, decides levels for spins and steps, and looks at rotation for jumps, among other things.
judges - at ISU competition, there are 9 (many club competitions often run with five or less). The judges are responsible for the Grade of Execution and PCS scores.
GOE - grade of execution. Ranges from -3 (very bad) to +3 (superlatively great) with 0 in the middle (done properly but not outstandingly). GOE can be awarded for features like difficult entries, arm variations, air positions etc and taken away for mistakes (hand down, fall, step out, turn out, etc).
PCS - program components score (the second mark). Made up of Transitions, Choreography, Interpretation, Skating Skills, and Performance/Execution, this is usually referred to as the “artistic mark”. Some fans have also dubbed them “Patrick Chan Scores” (in relation to how Chan’s PCS is always high no matter how poorly he skates, sometimes leading to contentious results) or “Points for Canadian Skaters”.
Zayak - repeating a jump too many times in competition. Any jump is only allowed to be repeated once (so you can only do it twice per program) and you can only repeat a certain number of jumps. So a skater who did 3T, 3T-3T would Zayak and lose the points for the 3T on the end of the combination, designated on the protocols as *. Nobunari Oda was beyond famous for this.
Waxel - a failed takeoff from an Axel-type jump. Sometimes with hilarious (if slightly painful) results.
Kiss and cry - the place where the skater and coach wait for marks.
Protocol - the extremely useful PDF that breaks down the scoring to an extreme level. It lists the elements of every skater in the order they did them, the base value of that element and what it actually scored, whether it was in the bonus, the exact GOE that each judge gave them, the PCS score broken down into what each judge gave them in each category, and any violations. New for this year is that we now know which judge gave what score and we can see information about certain violations (ie: Costume violation (2 of 10) says that the skater had two judges press the costume violation button, but a majority is needed so no deduction was taken).
Wedgie/Wedgie Data - the live results page, a lifeline for fans when the stream breaks or is unavailable.
Stream - video stream of the competition. Comments about the quality of the stream often make up quite a lot of discussion.
IceNotwork - a derogatory term used to refer to IceNetwork, the USFS backed, MLB-owned website that provides a paid streaming service for skating in the US. Good luck getting any customer service, and any problems with streams (and there are MANY) are blamed on the fans themselves. Unfortunately, it is the only place to watch all of US Nationals short programs and one Senior B.
Warhorse - over-used skating music. Examples include Carmen, Swan Lake, Tango de Roxanne, and for the love of all things holy, Feelin’ Good…
PBP - play by play, common to various skating forums. Sometimes multiple different posters provide PBP commentary/elements, with often hilarious results.
Let me know if there are any more you want to know!

Before, I didn’t understand why adults could cry over a dropped pen. And now I'm an adult myself. We cry not because “the pen fell,” but because “in addition to everything, the pen also fell.”

OR THE PROPHECY SHOULD HAVE REMAINED SUCH BECAUSE OTHERWISE FOKALORS WOULD NOT SEPARATE FURINA FROM HERSELF AND WOULD NOT DESTROY THE THRONE, AND WOULD NOT RETURN THE POWER TO HYDRO DRAGON
Tumblr media
(although it seems like the prophecy was supposedly a punishment from Celestia, but then the question is why Celestia did not throw down the column, as she did with Dragon Ridge)
Genshin hypothesis
I have a hypothesis at the level of delirium that BEFORE the Kaenria disaster the world did not exist. And all the evidence to the contrary -
A) the ruins of a fallen civilization millennia ago
B) plugging chrono-holes and “false history” (possibly correcting information in Irminsul)
Where did it all come from? Written by Celestia as a fantasy author - the backstory of the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All tangible long-term events here begin 500 years ago.
It is clear why Nahida and Raiden Ei entered the chat 500 years ago, but Focalors separated Furina from itself also 500 years ago and this has literally nothing to do with Kaenria.
Although it is indicated that Egergia died, like Makoto, ONLY Nahida is stated as the “youngest archon” (who is apparently no longer considered as such due to the merger with the history and memory of Rukhadevatta and the erasure in Irminsul of the difference between her and Buer).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is, Focalors MUST BE OLDER (and noticeably on the scale of human life) than Buer. But Egergia was replaced by Furina before the people, and Focalors herself did not appear to people at all and this happened 500 years ago. In other words, both Buer and Focalors should have been declared to us as the youngest.
It’s one thing when no one noticed the shift between Makoto and Ei (or pretended to), especially considering that Ei closed immediately and Makoto’s colleagues could assume that she was jammed (especially if they did not witness Makoto’s death).
Tumblr media
But Focalors took the throne from Egeria OFFICIALLY. She didn't replace her, she officially replaced her. 500 years ago.
And the question of why she was not initially presented in the same way as Nahida (aka “the youngest”) remains fucking open.
And this is not to mention the fact that we still do not know anything about the “Fokalors policy”, which the Oceanids were so angry about that they left Fontaine.
And Egergia on the frescoes looks generally the same as Focalors.
Tumblr media
Which is more like laziness in working out the backstory of the world. No one can work out absolutely everything, and it is possible that at the moment of entering new data into Irminsul, he filled in the blanks in the same way as the existing ones, simply plugging the holes.
Therefore, Egeria, with whom Focalors is not currently related in lore, is depicted as practically a copy of Focalors.
The similarity between Rukhadevatta and Buer is explained by the fact that Buer is literally the “kidney” of Rukha, but what about Egergia and Focalors?
Unplugged holes that Irminsul, not being capable of creativity, plugs with the closest available analogue is the concept that explains this point.
Tumblr media
If the author of a fantasy is free not to prescribe everything down to the smallest detail, then Irminsul is obliged, because the world must be completed. You cannot bring a personality into it without an appearance, and the closest available analogue of Egeria is Focalors, and this void was plugged by the appearance of Focalors.
Well, like, why not?
This can explain all the inconsistencies in the lore: Irminsul’s confusing data 🙃
It’s also interesting that the prophecy murals literally depict Furina, not Focalors. So it turns out that the prophecy knew everything anyway?
Then why the fuck and most importantly why 😂
