Quarantine Self portrait
Tumblr media
Although I am finished my animation projects I wanted to produce some art digitally and get to know more of the tools better for September
I wanted to make a piece inspired by the current quarantine so I thought since I am using social media a lot more now I decided to use emojis as my medium to portray that

An issue I am having is zooming in/zooming out in my animation
I am using a stop motion app on my iPad to put my shots together and it cannot handle zooming out
here is an example
It is really jumpy and has a messy effect which I do not like

Here are few examples of shots of the scene I did compare to the actual scene
I am really liking the style the digital oil paint is giving to my animation

For my scene analysis and sweeding project I have chosen the death scene of Sam the dog from the movie ‘I am Legend’ 2007
I posted the scene for reference
This very emotional scene broke my heart as a child when I first saw it

I like the simple design in this animation and think it suits well with the story telling as it is not too distracting
I am looking at animation videos that share this style for contextual research and inspiration

My final animation for the movie poster ‘Us’
2 scenes- confrontation scene where Red pulls towards Adelaide while she pulls away and both merge into the one figure (they are in an underground tunnel which is a key location in the movie also)
It darkens
Movie poster scene- it brightens up again and the merged figure is seen taking off the mask

This is my work for the confrontation scene where the 2 figures form into one figure
I used my roommates as a reference for help to animate the body movements
They enacted the scene and I took many photos for reference but I only post one to shorten this post
James plays ‘Red’ and is pulling towards while Cónall plays ‘Adelaide’ and pulls away
This is to display what happens in the movie as Red pulls towards Adelaide because she wants her old life back but Adelaide pulls away as she wants to keep her new life
They merge into one and forms the figure at the poster scene

My animation so far
I have completed the ending scene by animating her arm to move across to take off the mask
I also made the font of ‘US’ to bounce

Story board of my animation
It first starts off with Red and Adelaide together
Red pulls towards Adelaide as she wants her life back but Adelaide pulls away as she wants to keep her new life
They combine into the one figure and the scene darkens
It then lights up and it is the movie poster scene where the figure removes its mask and shows its face -ending at the still image of the movie poster
