I would like to try and imitate the work of this artist. He is known for his ceramics and tapestries. He says 'The world I draw is the interior landscape of my personal obsessions..... That resonates with me. I like when art shows the personality of the artist.
I don't have the steadiest hand or a fine touch so I did not try and do anything similar to Perrys. I did not know that there were clay pencils available to me. I think I might have been comfartable using them. I will buy some and do some practice over the summer.
I am using a part of an old polytunnel as an arch, to display my work for Narrative of the senses. It was cut out at home, measured and holes drilled. Brought into college, measured again and more holes drilled by Chris. Measured again and more holes drilled. Brought down to under the conker tree to be assembled by myself.
Then the fun started. It would not stand up. I was like a double-jointed gymnast / crossed with ventriloquist/ laurel and hardy type workman, out of a carry on movie, trying to get the thing to stand. The screws were too short, I hadn't enough nuts, cable ties were to light, I had measured the the wrong place for the holes. I won't even go into how many people ( thank you all) who came to help. Technician,Ultan, ( or should I say, The Genius )came to help and just sorted the whole thing out with Gemma's help.
There's a few more little bits to do for this arch but it was a seriously, fun, silly, great craic of a job.
I'll post an image of it after I get the Mayor of Limerick to officiate at the official standing of The Arch
I scribble and draw on scraps of paper or the back of an envelope. I will attempt to do drawings into an actual book and also include my artists research.
This is a cover for my rubbish box which I hope to put together on Monday.
I used plastics to make the lid.
Went collecting pine cones, not sure what I'll do with them but they do tickle the touch and smell senses.
My grandsons helped to make birds and birds nests.
No matter how much I tried with the bird ocarinas, I just could not get a sound from them.
I got some old packaging from Elaine.
I sprayed it gold to use as honey combs
I broke my hands panel so once again I called on the grandchildren to make clay hands for the new panel.
I've kept them wrapped in cling film to stop them from drying out.
I have collected sounds from Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and America. Birdsong, kettle boiling, wind, angle grinder, bagpipes, rain, storms, ball playing, an Italian bus driver talking about love!, bubbles, talking, footsteps, ceramic sounds and more.
Ive put them all together but the file is too big to upload here so I will just play beside my piece of work if I finish it.
