I finished Midnight Mass.
It's great because it's "What if we represented the Catholic Church as a parasite feeding on a dying community via false miracles?" and "What if this drum-beating American Christianity is so fucked up that a priest couldn't tell the difference between an angel and a vampire?" but also "What if we made our nefarious priest figure crying shaking throwing up constantly on the verge of tears?" and "Rat poison! Is there anything it can't do?"

ultimately Pruitt is a complex character and it's very reductive to try to box him in as either a "good" person or a "bad" person
but imo his biggest red flag and the thing that pushes him a little more to the "bad" side of that spectrum is how much trust and faith he puts in Bev Keane
either he's blind to what she truly is, or he just doesn't care.
he shifts by the end, comes to understand the damage he's caused, and I think he comes to see her as she is, but it's that connection and reliance on Bev that keeps me from feeling total sympathy for him.
