   The girl’s jaw is locked in place and she refuses to give way. Her hands grip firmly to keep his arm more steady as he tries to resist. Barry’s clearly in pain but she doesn’t let up until he rips away from her himself. Slobber covers the red indentations on the other’s skin, while some drips down Meghan’s chin. She glares daggers at him as she wipes it away with her sleeve.

   Looking at the damage she’d done tugs at her emotions further. Part of her feels some sort of satisfaction, as if she just proved herself in some way and exacted revenge. Like, ‘Hah! That’s what you get!’. The other part begins to remind her that doing things like that is wrong and how her loved ones would be disappointed in her. But it was too late to take it back even if she wanted to.

   Her eyes begin to well up.

   It’s not fair— Barry made fun of her so he got bitten, it’s not her fault! When a pokemon gets angered they attack too!

   “So what? I’m not scared of you, I’ll do whatever I want!” It doesn’t matter what he thinks if he never took her seriously to begin with. Biting him doesn’t need to solve anything it just! It just! Whatever!

   Barry then presents a challenge to Meghan, one she wasn’t expecting. She takes a step back and pulls her hair forward to cover her mouth. A pokemon battle… Well, of course she’d do one! But he’s already beaten her once before ( and won against Volkner for that matter )— if he wins again he’ll just make fun of her even more after what happened. It doesn’t sound fun that way…

   However, backing out will only make her a coward and that’s not hardcore at all—!

   “Fine.” With seemingly no choice, Meghan snatches one of the pokeballs from her waist and throws it out between them. What comes out is a Pikachu, of course. It’s Sunny, ready for battle!

   Most of the time, Meghan is smiling during matches like these, exuding excitement and passion. Right now it doesn’t look like she’s enjoying herself at all.

[🌟] - barry wasn’t surprised when meghan accepted the challenge and greeted the stone cold faces of the two with a, ‘yeah that’s what I’m talking about!’. he even admired her for the tenacity and courage that rolled off of her in erratic waves. 

if the situation was any different, barry would have joyfully greeted the Pikachu- he remembered a younger meghan and her pikachu, set on making him work to get to volkner- and commented on the power growth of the two, but instead he felt wrong. technically, he felt pain in his arm but, on the inside, his own feelings. when he battled, there might be some serious battles but he never had a battle where both parties were driven by such a negative emotion. it wasn’t fun it was...the opposite of fun... like he was committing some kind of unwritten crime, similar to the rule of ‘never hitting a girl’.

as he chose his own pokemon, Heracross, Barry let himself grin at the irony of the match-up; the battle was recreated- only, Heracross didn’t look too happy. As the most sensitive and responsible pokemon in Barry’s team, the bug-type pokemon had his arms crossed and regarded barry with an expression he recognized as a mom-look after he brings home a bad report card or was called in for fighting a student.

Disappointment. The word that best summed up the expression the bug pokemon conveyed, only it was directed at his stupid, idiotic trainer. It was a face that said it would refuse to battle until the underlying situation was handled.

☆ ・‥…   “Aw...come on Heracross, don’t look at me like that. Not now, maybe after? No? Ugh, but she-! Okay okay, I know. But I’m only doing it because you told me to...” ・‥…━━━☆ but Barry felt heavy with guilt he didn’t know he was capable of and though it was hard to admit it, he was in the wrong. the fiery vengeance had dwindled to a flickering light, though the contempt of being bitten and pestered was still there, it didn’t blind him.

☆ ・‥…   “Hey, you. Look, listen-uh, erhm, so you see here! Heracross is unable to, well, more like he refuses to battle until you are- until I do and say the thing, and after you accept it. Oh gosh this is harder than I thought.” ・‥…━━━☆ he was unsure. flustered. back to feeling like meghan’s age and he had to confront the kid he punched, even if it was for self-defense. Only he was the older one and he was apologizing to a younger kid who was as unpredictable as he. ☆ ・‥…   “You having fun? I’m sure as heck not. Aren’t battles supposed to be, ya know, fun? exciting! You can take it as me going back on my word, heh, but Heracross thinks I’m a dumbbutt right now and he’s right.”  ・‥…━━━☆ 

i made her cry. and he wasn’t going to let her go without seeing a smile, even if that took a  million years. he held his breath as he watched the biter carefully. biter huh- wasn’t that just self-defense?

FIVE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN MUSE & MUN.

1) Both enjoy running! Though we have different reasons. Mine is health while Barry and his impatience believes his legs are the faster mode transportation. 

2) Absent Parents in our early lives 

3) Love to plan and carry out pranks, even if it's not April Fools. Roommates are always wary whenever I ask then for a favor. 

4) A recent character addition (for barry), but we both have a toxic internalized image of what it takes to be a man/women. 

5) Both find strength and determination from within and is always trying to one up themselves.

FIVE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MUSE & MUN.

1) Barry hates math but it's my favorite subject! And while history is my least favorite subject, Barry excels in it. 

2) He is very optimistic with a self-esteem higher than snoop dog after a dozen tokes. The mun, not so much lel 

3) Barry is one of those rare breeds of people who do not struggle with debilitating mental illnesses while Mun is littered with them. 

4) Mun is terrified of confrontation but Barry is ready to get up all in ya face if something is bothering him. 

5) Barry refuses to curse, preferring idioms or censored renditions, but the shit is my entire vocabulary. (i try not to as well...)

   “Uh huh…” There he goes with those sparkling puppy dog eyes and sweet words. Kouki holds the same expression but it does waver a moment, their brows furrowing. “To be honest, I can’t see you giving up pranks in the first place.” It’s not like him at all.

   If this isn’t a prank, he’ll be disappointed… if it is, he’ll still be disappointed. Should they just play along? It can’t be that bad, can it?

   “You promise this is just a regular caramel apple?” Kouki picks it up by the stick and points it to Barry accusingly. Looks like they might really eat it. If it were anyone other than Barry, they wouldn’t be doing this.

[🌟] - ☆ ・‥…   “ scout’s honor! “ he even sealed the promise with a clumsy X sign over his heart (the candy apple he held was a bit heavy) and a friendly nod as if to prompt kouki to take a bite. his breathing was steady and he tried to keep his emotions in check, lest they picked up any suspicious activity.  ☆ ・‥… “ what else could it be? I wouldn’t sully the name that is the sugary goodness of a caramel apple! “

but his toes were crossed.

   “… Yes, Barry?” They don’t look so amused when their friend shows up, being that it’s April Fool’s Day and he’s always pulling pranks. Kouki can sense shifts between emotions but it’s really hard to differentiate between pure happiness and the mischievous happiness that comes with pulling a practical joke. They usually end up falling for it one way or another ( the minute Barry whips out something like ‘don’t you trust me?’ they cave )— though a few times they’ve gotten through unscathed.

   “Don’t you think it’s suspicious to start your ‘no pranking’ streak by bringing food over on April Fool’s Day?” Kouki leans forward to inspect the other caramel ‘apple’ but it’s impossible to see what’s inside past the thick outer coating.

[🌟] - ☆ ・‥…   “ You are absolutely correct, Kou! So! I asked myself, how do I fully show that my sleeves are empty starting now? “  barry shook his elbows as physical proof and before holding kouki’s scrutinizing gaze with his own wide, sparkling eyes.

☆ ・‥…   “ With a peace offering of my starting anew~ Come on, you promised to try food that I worked soo hard on~ “ as if to further imply the safety of his...creations, barry took another bite of his apple, making sure to take a healthy chomp with added ‘mmm delish!’ sound effects. 

[🌟] - ☆ ・‥…   "Kouuukkii~" Barry's head pops up from Kouki's doorway and he holds up a small sliver platter with two 'caramel apples' sitting innocently on it. The calendar on everyone's poketech said 4/1, but Barry only had 'pure' intentions. Besides, every year he played pranks on everyone he knew and it gets predictable. 

☆ ・‥…   “I know what you're thinking, and no, I'm turning over a new leaf, extending my olive branch- see here!" takes a bite out of an apple. it's an apple! only...the last one was an onion...

[🌟] - quite simple actually! Palmer, Crasher Wake and Cynthia- and which ever protag who takes the champion title after her. If we’re talkin anime, then Paul, even when he’s such a douc-, and Ash! 

there’s a pattern here! barry tends to gravitate towards those who are either physically strong, or are known to be strong trainers who holds many titles. to a lesser degree, I think he has a general level of respect and awe for all gym leaders, some more than others but, hey, he’s not choosing favorites yet!
