My light sensitive work [specifically my installation “Dark Adaptation” first shown at Bert Green Fine Art Chicago in 2017] is featured in relation to darkroom processes as concept in this newly published textbook by Chelsea Shannon and Mark Chen. Honored to be included in such an extensive and expansive text on photography that is geared towards the contemporary, university-level student who has come of age in the era of digital photography and social media. Packed with content and features many artists that I know and admire. Photography: A 21st Century Practice Mark Chen and Chelsea Shannon Routledge’s Focal Press 1st edition, Oct 2020

Artists for Action June 26 - July 25, 2020 The Alice Wilds, Milwaukee, WI
Artists for Action features over 20 artists from The Alice Wilds and the community, contributing work and coming together in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. As we continue to witness police brutality toward the Black community and recognize the realities of systemic racism across our nation, we want to take action. 100 percent of the proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to organizations that have been selected by the artists to forward this movement.

An Object of Their Own Jessica Labatte, Nicole White, and Sarah Phyllis Smith & Douglas Degges February 8 – March 12, 2020 Curated by Julie Weber
Perspectives Gallery Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Milwaukee, WI
An Object of Their Own constitutes a kind of photography that is driven by a symbiotic and inextricable connection between process and representation. The works in this exhibition depict the unique properties inherent to the photographic materials and apparatuses used in their making; simultaneously, they also depict the outward world that was composed before the lens. Each of the artists reconciles this duality in ways that encourage us to think about the photographic surface as a site for mark marking and gestural intervention.

FOTOFILMIC18 January 30 – March 7, 2020
The Reference, Seoul, South Korea
FOTOFILMIC18 is the 6th edition of FotoFilmic’s traveling exhibition competition presenting 30 emerging and mid-career photographers from 12 nations in representation of material practices in contemporary photography. Unique in its genre and scope, the exhibition assembles a wide range of analogue and film-based photographic methods collectively picturing a resurgent attraction to, and preoccupation with the materiality of photographic envisioning in a world increasingly defined by computational measures. Reclaiming a core artistic wholeness to the experiencing and interpreting of reality through the positive limitations inherent to analogue capture and media, each photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into photography’s fluid present, and constant reinvention since 1839.
Exhibition Jurors included photographic artists Joachim Brohm (Essen, Germany) and Greg Girard (Vancouver, Canada) as well as renowned international curators of contemporary photography and art Joachim Naudts (Curator, FOMU, Antwerpen, Belgium), Barrie Mowatt (President, Vancouver Biennale, Vancouver, Canada), Heather Snider (Executive Director, SF Camerawork, San Francisco, USA) and Jeong Eun Kim (IANN & The Reference, Seoul, South Korea).
Previous Exhibition Dates & Venues: VANCOUVER: May 17 – June 16, 2019, the Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver, BC, Canada. SAN FRANCISCO: October 10 – December 20, 2019, SF Camerawork, San Francisco, CA, USA.
