Good evening I hate witchcraft and paganism

My sister is going through some of this now, her husband is Catholic but she is not so they got permission from his bishop to get married and they are having a small Catholic ceremony shortly before their “real” big party and public vows ceremony that’s gonna be pretty secular. This is partly because (as I understand it) the Catholic vows and blessings for a marriage are specific and particular and you need to have them or at least be pretty close to them in a Protestant ceremony to have a sacramental marriage. Would you marry someone who wasn't Catholic?

I don’t wish to offer a definite “No”, not because I’m a weak-willed fool (which is true), but because not enough information has been provided.

Now, here’s the weird part: I’ve been under the impression, incorrect or not, that, as a catechumen, I’m not allowed to date Catholics (at this point); and, so, if I were to be married between now and Easter Sunday, well, it is my understanding that I would have to marry a non-Catholic? I think. (Please, please, please correct me if I’m wrong!)

Anyway, setting that aside, of course, the general cautions against disparity of cult and mixed marriages should, naturally, be heeded: now, I’m neither a canon lawyer nor a priest, but CCC 1633-1637 are particularly of note here, I think. Likewise, St. Paul’s words, in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (”Do not be mismatched with unbelievers.”), are true.

Let’s not even get into the cultural aspects of the faith; the beliefs of such a spouse on matters of reproduction, sexuality, child-rearing, etc., etc.; or my (selfish) desire to abandon the city and have a quiet, bucolic life, for that matter. All of which must also come into play.

On balance, then, in the general case: no, barring specific circumstances.
