Yeah! Typographic installation made from drinking straws 

Bangkok design studio FarmGroup has created this hanging installation from used plastic straws. Packed tightly together, hundreds of these reclaimed straws form the building blocks for larger shapes and words. This installation, for the Siam Center, intends to emphasize the idea that nearly anything can be reused.

Font Bureau’s Neue Haas Grotesk

The digital version of Helvetica that everyone knows and uses today is quite different from the typeface’s pre-digital design from 1957. Originally released as Neue Haas Grotesk, many of the features that made it a Modernist favorite have been lost in translation over the years from one typesetting technology to the next.

Type designer Christian Schwartz has newly restored the original Neue Haas Grotesk in digital form – bringing back features like optical size variations, properly corrected obliques, alternate glyphs, refined spacing, and more.

YAWN means Yeah Awesome Wow Nice. YAWN is Annika and Sandra. We both studied graphic design and have been working together as freelance illustrators and graphic designers since 2009. We’re children of the 80s; we like illustrator, feltpens, watercolors, rainbow colors, handmade type, geometric forms and sneakers. We are influenced by music, pop, youth culture, fashion, 80s surf and skate design, high school movies (Brat Pack) and Hedi Slimane’s photography.
