My Star of Stars

a jihoon one shot, 500 wds. fluff. inspired by 유성 by snuper

The night sky was darkening as each little star made itself known. The moon was already at its highest point in the sky, the navy-blue blanket took its time replacing sunset. I was sitting under the open window in front of me, watching each star flicker on. Most days seemed to end like that, me under the open window, feeling the cool, dry breeze of night sweep by unbothered. I sighed, waiting for the complete transformation of sparkles in the sky.

I feel a warm jacket placed onto my shoulders, and arms snaked around my waist, finished with a head nuzzling into my neck. He pulls my weight into his lap, while I’m still fixated on the sky. The Sagittarius Arm seemed crowded, full of neighboring stars with their light overlapping. The ecliptic traces the sky above us, showing us a clear view of the constellation, Virgo.

“That’s Spica, right baby?”

“Yes, hun,” I turn to look into his eyes, but they’re pointed towards the sky, reflecting the glimmering light of the stars.

He smiles brightly, defending his knowledge. He laces his fingers within mine. Just left of Spica is a rivaling presence, Jupiter. Both objects in the sky have their own light, one being created, and one being reflected, yet they still shine in their own way. Tonight, Jihoon’s eyes resembled planets.

It’s just the two of us on the bench below the window, with me seated contently in his lap. He holds me close, his hands still holding mine. I can feel his heartbeat through my back. There’s a slight rustle of leaves outside due to the sea breeze. Being so close to the beaches of Busan meant a clearer sky than the one over bustling Seoul. We’re able to see more of the constellations that I’m used to pointing out

Jihoon’s presence here with me, just the two of us, it’s my lullaby. His gentle fingers softly rubbing mine waves serenity over this serendipitous moment where the universe aligned for such a surreal encounter. By chance our paths follow like the moon and sun across our sky.

I curled further into him and let my eyes close, feeling the soft breeze flow over my ears, cheeks, lips. Tender touches of fingertips dance over my head, he hums along with the quiet leaves outside our window. In and out of sleep I start drifting, feeling the universe surround my mind. I always felt safe being in his arms, sharing this moment together feels more like a necessary part of our night than anything else. Sharing this moment with him.

As the stars glitter around us, draping a special blanket of shining stars over us, he shifts under me and lifted me to bed.

“You’re my star of stars, baby, my favorite cluster of stardust. You’re brighter than shooting stars traveling across the night sky.”

Jihoon kissed my forehead and snuggled up next to me as the stars cascade over the sky outside our window.

“Sweet dreams, my love.”
