anders dragonage is such a character. he has a clinic in a sewer. he wears feathers. he’s both tainted and possessed. he occasionally glows. he’s the reason mages aren’t allowed to leave the tower for PE. he came up with a cat name before he got a cat. he’s bad at spelling. he blew up a church. he has a “controversy” section on his wikipedia page, but the controversy in question is him being way too into men for gamer dudebros in 2011 to handle, not the fact that he blew up a church. he has a wikipedia page

Okay I was gonna make a whole post about not understanding how it is Aveline got into Kirkwall and why Athenril/Meeran was willing to pay for her and halfway through it occurred to me, that Gamlen didn't know about the dead twin so they were just already expecting to pay for four people. Like she wasn't extra that was just already the deal.

Fenris: That Garden Ungrown
One-shot, 1,367 words
"I would like to take Judith with me this time."
"Oh really? Where are you going?"
"Back to Tevinter."
"Really, now? Has it suddenly become safer?"
Fenris's mouth flattened into a thin line.
"If not, then why?" she half-demanded.
Fenris studied Merrill's face for a moment, tracing the faded lines of her Vallaslin with his eyes.
Part of him didn't want to admit it. He already felt like an awful parent. He'd abandoned his child and was now appearing out of nowhere to take her to a dangerous country on the brink of war.
"I don't want her to grow up and not know who I am…"

He grabbed Merrill’s shoulder. “Where is Anders?”
“He—” Merrill looked at him before she could finish her sentence, eyes very wide, tongue stumbling. “He went, he went to—”
“He’s buying us time,” said Isabela. “With Hawke.”
Fenris’ whole body went cold; the battle seemed to lose sound and colour and motion for a moment before it blinked back into place. “What?” he snapped.
A man ran at Isabela and she threw him, eliciting an ungainly squawk as the fool’s shoulder was wrenched out of place. She wasted no time in following with a dagger through his chest. “I don’t like it either,” she snarled, wiping the blood spray from her face, “but he’s all we’ve got.”
Fenris had no illusions about Anders’ skills. He was a powerful mage, and when his creature took hold of him, he was something terrible to behold. But he simply didn’t use his magic the way Hawke did. Anders was no battle-mage. He supported his allies, healed them, drew up protective barriers that shielded them from harm. He could throw a fireball, but that didn’t make him vicious. For him to face Hawke alone…
Fenris thought what a strange thing it was, to hear of a battle between the two most monstrously powerful mages alive in Kirkwall, and run towards it. Varric would call it poetic. Fenris thinks it’s stupid.
He starts running anyway.
