Change
For the autistic creative challenge, a poem.
Change happens
This I know for sure.
Sometimes change can be
Difficult.
A part of life
Yes
But no simpler because of it.
Some things must change
But to alieve my grinding
Burning
Soul
I control what I can.
I control my property
My tools
My space
My routine.
In a changing world
My routine remains vastly
Static.
I burn
Therefore
Burn like fire when my control is broken.
When it shatters like glass
I
Too
Shatter.
My spine turns to ice
My blood to flame
My breath to smoke and steam.
I will not tolerate
My control removed.
I will not tolerate
My routine altered.
I
Will
Not
Tolerate
My space invaded.
Most things in life must change.
This I know well.
But when my spine tingles with lightning
It is all I can do not to
Scream.
