"It's not something I can control"

Being a student with ADHD/ADD is a challenge most people are not aware of.

It's a constant battle. People tend to believe we are not interested in learning, that we aren't trying, that we are being lazy or childish.

I think a lot of people with ADHD/ADD will agree with me when I tell you:

We ARE interested in so many things, that it's hard to concentrate on one topic.

We WANT to learn so many different things, and sometimes we want to learn about THAT ONE thing that happens to be not our school topic. Although I often find intrest in the school topic, something else will catch my curiosity.

We ARE NOT being lazy. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the easiest tasks. I can't organize, and I will find myself in a state of procrastinating because I feel overwhelmed, anxious or struggle to start with a task.

Beginning to do something is perhaps the hardest thing to me. I will wake up, play some video games while I will remind myself of studying non-stop. That results in me stressing myself, followed by overwhelming feelings that lead to me doing absolutely nothing and hating myself every second I spend being unproductive.

It's not something I can control or just "turn off", believe me I would have done that by now. Some days I'm not able to do the basic daily tasks because my mind is just going so so fast that I'm exhausted by 9am.

But believe me when I tell you, that we are not being "lazy on purpose", we have to deal with our ADHD/ADD and on some days it's just harder than on others.
