I just had a realization about TGAMM’s ‘Citizen McGee’ and ‘The Internship’ which are both two parters within the same episode. I thought the artistic design of the ghosts was one of the reasons why Molly wasn’t able to make any connection between Todd and Scratch, and then I realized something.

In ‘Citizen McGee,’ Mayor Brunson was able to easily identify his Mom when she was a ghost. It’s unknown how long she has been dead, and he has a picture of her in his office, but he was able to tell it was her, despite some visual differences.

Then the next part of the episode is ‘The Internship’ which is the second time Molly is able to interact with Todd, but this time she had more than just a few seconds to get a good look at his face. She knows Scratch’s face so well by this point that she should have picked up the physical similarities, and there should have been a reversal of that identification…. And yet that didn’t happen.

I know it wouldn’t have worked for obvious reasons, and I know realistically she would not have immediately saw the connection, but it’s still a bit laughable that she wasn’t later all “Hey Scratch there was this guy who kind of looks like you. You don’t think you have any descendants or family members who are still around?”

Then again, this is the same girl who mistook Geoff for President Lincoln, so….

… But now I’m having another realization. Brunson knew Todd since they were kids, so why the hell did he not recognize Scratch, who was RIGHT THERE WITH THE OTHER GHOST MAYORS?! In that song?!

…..Is Todd so average-looking that this applies to his ghost as well?

One detail I love in TGAMM’s ‘The End’ is when you can notice Scratch visibly remembering his true identity and past life.

You have the moment where he finds out what really unlocked the new memories and hears his true name

Then you have the moment where he hears Molly say his true name and starts thinking. (Or perhaps he does remember before that point and Molly saying his real name causes some discomfort for another reason, like she’s about to find out about the kind of person he really was).

As Molly tries to deny any connection, and describes Todd as just another random person, you see him start to remember… and you can tell they aren’t happy memories… (Or alternatively, he's being forced to hear Molly describe his true self and is a bit hurt by it)

And then Scratch–with all his painful memories intact–now knows who he really is. He is once again Todd Mortenson–the man who was so afraid of dying and taking chances that he never truly lived his life.

I kinda gave up drawing my sona in the pilot’s style halfway (because it’s hard 😭) but I keep messing around with the idea that Nordic purposely seeks her out while she’s trying to live a normal life on Earth and constantly attacks it to get her attention.

What if Todd was doc ock? I mean it fits very well surprisingly and I love it. He has ghost arms instead of tentacles but they can change shape. I went with Otto's NWH look.

the animation is astonishingly gorgeous, especially for a pilot...my brain can't work out how they've done it!! reminds me of the movements from Storm Hawks 🤩 oh, and that marvellous voice work from the iconic Dana Snyder (Gazpacho from Chowder) as Nordic Bunny...and is that Danny Cooksey (Jack Spicer from Xiaolin Showdown) as Hank?! this kicks so much ass i am HERE for it 😭😭😭 and you're so right, we were robbed. everything is so fun in this pilot but the stand-out is that mental design for Nordic Bunny. what is he?!?! a sentient catboy guitar?!?! is he wearing lipstick and underpants on the outside of his...armour? or is that his body? the TAIL?!?! PLEASE!!! and oh my god he's so pathetic and whiny and crazy. i want an entire season of this right now just to see the deranged exploits he gets up to 😂 dude thank you so much for sending this pilot my way - i can see it's popped off severely on Twitter over the last day or so!!! all that lovely fanart 🥰 and the producer/director Matt Danner has been giving a lot of amazing background information on the show!!! who knows, maybe Disney would be willing to give it another shot...👀
