Life-size sculpture Glyptodon-levensgrote 3D model van het uitgestorven gordeldier

This Glyptodon sculpture stands 140 cm high This is a paleontological reconstruction of Glyptodon clavipes commissioned by museum Historyland. For this sculpture, I made a mold from a real section of a fossil carapace and replicated it onto its shell. Each scute supports a pair of hair follicles. Therefore, the model had to support thousands of hairs, which had to be implanted manually one at a time. The head anatomy and morphology were reconstructed using a real fossil skull from Argentina.

Prehistoric diorama‘’From the Devonian to the Carboniferous’’.The structure of this 3D diorama is 175 cm high and 250 cm wide. Firstly the diorama displays a sculpture of the giant Carboniferous dragonfly or ‘’Griffenfly’’ Meganeura monyi. Secondly, the diorama displays a sculpture of the huge 70 cm long Carboniferous scorpion ‘’Pulmonoscorpius’’. Thirdly, the diorama displays a sculpture of Tiktaalik roseae from the late Devonian. In the water, a small species of Eurypterid or sea scorpion. Displayed by museum Historyland.
