I said this same thing, and honestly I’m tempted to write it. Here’s the thing either way it’s evident Izzy will be returning, we just don’t know how. Edward has already 'Died' this season, and if he died again it would’ve been poetic and might have driven Izzy and Stede closer; I think that would be been a really nice segue of the pair finally being what each other need for the life that they’ve chosen to be loyal to.
However with this ominous comment, I’m painfully inclined to believe there’s greater things in store for Izzy. It may take losing him to make Ed and Stede truly appreciate what he provided for them both. (as messed up as it is, it’s a pirate show that’s main comedic focused relationship this season was built on chaos and unhealthy behaviors.)
Season two opened very impactful, it informed us how the season was going to end but it also contrasted the relationship developing between Stede & Izzy. (Which I won’t take as anything other than healthy romanticism, Con himself said Izzy was a romantic and Stede brings that out in him.)
Izzy and Stede didn’t have the nicest start, but the mood between them was built on inconvenient annoyance much rather than immediate infatuation which can be perceived much more as naive love. Izzy’s reaction to Stede’s sudden presence in his life is far more realistic than the rose tinted glasses of rapid adoration of two people prone to whims. The fact he grew to miss Stede naturally seems far more romantic of him than anything he could’ve had for Ed, given their dynamic and years of history. (This post isn’t about Edizzy but I have a lot to say about it, too.)
Seeing Izzy confront the Kraken about the atmosphere on the ship is incredibly painful the first time watching and even more so with the context of; "We need to talk things through. Like Stede would."
I do have criticism at how Izzy’s death was handled. The mere fact he didn’t die protecting anyone and simply just died from a gunshot wound he didn’t even try to defend himself from?
Izzy "It’s only suicide if you die." Hands.
I would’ve killed for Ed to die protecting Izzy and Stede coming to terms with that and also wanting to protect him; I’m tempted to write this fanfiction with all the information I have. Anyways I’ve already rambled a lot about this.
Hot Take: I would've much rather Ed died.
Stede obviously would've been devastated, but Izzy would be there for him, and they would help each other through it. Out of this maybe we get Stizzy?? Izzy gets the love he deserves (and gets to know he is loved), and Stede would get to continue being a pirate, the thing he has dreamed about since like yk forever. The thing he uprooted his entire very comfortable life to do.
Anyway... RIP to the fucking legend, absolute bastard, piece of shit, Israel Hands.
