i almost didn’t watch dollface because the synopsis made me roll my eyes, but i actually think it delivers on depicting the struggle of being a millennial woman; things are supposed to be better for us, the fight is supposed to be over, but here we’ve got jules still unable to ask for a raise from her female boss, working for a ‘women’s wellness’ company that clearly doesn’t actually value its employees and only cares as much about profit (hello, capitalism, hello lean in), she’s till intimidated by the “cool girls” and “girl squads” and an idea of how she should behave. and while the pilot suffered from the typical pilot stiffness it still delivered on humanizing all the characters and making us root for their friendship.
