Hooper did a lot of great things this season. being a dad and saving the day, absolutely great things.
but one of the best things he did was dealing with Mike when Eleven came back.
he didnāt brush it away because there were bigger fish to fry. he didnāt ignore Mikeās anger and pain. instead, he took him away from everyone, from Eleven especially, knowing this was a conversation Mike needed to have in private.
Hooper understood his anger, and he didnāt try to suppress it. he just tried to redirect it. do not blame her, sheās upset enough as it is. he didnāt care if Mike hated him, he didnāt care that all of Mikeās anger was directed at him, he knew thatās what Mike needed.
and when Mikeās anger broke loose, calling him names and cursing at him, Hooper took it. and when Mike broke down and started crying, Hooper took that as well, he took Mike into his arms.
one of the best things Hooper did was treat Mike like an adult. gave him the respect he deserved, letās talk, alone, treated him like a man who went through trauma and heartbreak, not like some stupid kid with a crush on a girl.
and Hooper did all of that, while understanding how much Eleven cared for Mike, and he took care of Mike accordingly.

Of course I want to get married. You do? Yes! I want us to have kids and a house and a dog and grow old and die within a week of each other. But I want to say āyesā because weāre in a good place, not because youāre afraid that Iām going to jail or someoneās going to kill us, but because things are normal and good and weāre happy just being boring old us. For once, I want to do something the right way.
