⸺ Nine couldn't keep his facade going with Gamma. It... was doubtful that Gamma would turn on him, in the worst case scenario he could completely reprogram him into another robot of his liking - but it wasn't needed. He's learned they're much too similar, it would weigh on his conscience; surprisingly enough.

He let out a rare chuckle, watching Gamma like he was a little kid.

"Heh, we're fine. You know, for a robot, you worry too much. But I understand it, I appreciate your concern. Here, just some scrap metal I've had laying around that we can use. Ready?"

Nine had various sizes at the ready to test Gamma's new modifications that he worked on when the machine powers down at night.

⸺ That's right, he recalled from early memory sequences he watched through Gamma's processor of him training with dolls. The only one he really got to notice was a blue hedgehog. Still an odd choice of target practice, he thinks.

"Hmm... I did modify your target tracking to be able to shoot without your laser detecting first as long as they're in your range of sight. Although we've never tested it to see if it works, but I'm pretty confident. Do you want to try it out? I can set up something real quick but it wouldn't be what you're used to."

⸺ Oh, he got the whole picture; he just wasn't phased and didn't care. Nine has gotten good at reading people and their motives - seems like this person was more bark than bite. But he wasn't going to tread those waters further. Not that he couldn't handle himself, just the waste of energy and time wasn't worth it. His life wasn't in danger to go out of his way to purposefully put himself in that position. His cocky smile lessened.

"...Like I said before, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know who this Sonic person you keep mentioning is. I've never needed anybody and I still don't now."

⸺ Oooh, he struck a nerve, huh? Usually he would've been bored at talking to someone for even a few moments but this? This was kind of entertaining. He had a cocky smirk on his face, amusement in his tone but still condescending.

"Wow, took you that long to figure it out? You might just have functioning brain cells after all. Though, I don't have a clue on what you're talking about."

It's getting... a bit exhausting, to say the least: people acting like they're familiar with him. And his thick skin doesn't let things like her obvious provocation get to him whatsoever.
