Art & Tea

4-16-2024

Some days you feel like a very harried elephant. Today is one of those days. My nekopiko pen decided to combust very goopily and ruin a picture I was working on. Also for some reason my brain decided it wanted to draw PEOPLE today, so of course I’m seeing every anatomical mistake I made. And lastly video I wanted to draw from has been privatized so I couldn’t use the reference I wanted — I wanted to draw a picture of my friend, who was dancing in the video, but alas, it was not to be. 😞

I’ve also had some non-art related worries, got some family members with health scares and a friend who flipped his car, (he’s okay) so I’m not in the best headspace for drawing today.

Anyway, here’s my very harried elephant self portrait. I’ll probably post a ballerina drawing tomorrow, if I remember.

Per my usual, I was a complete lump over the weekend and did zero arting. This handsome fellow is from last Thursday. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t use watercolor, I used alcohol markers, micron and nekopiko deleter pen for the highlights

I like the look of watercolors, I don’t like the mess… and also this way neither my cat nor I accidentally drink the paint water.

Another drawing from yesterday’s livestream. A hamster for National Pet Day. I think I made him a little too yellow, but my childhood hamster was named “Goldie” even though he was mostly white with yellow patches, so I just went with the name and made this one extra goldish. He’s eating an almond, if you’re wondering.

Here’s a sketch of my favorite ever doggo, Effervescence “Effie” Valentine. She was my mom’s doggo, who unfortunately passed away in 2022. I draw a lot of cats, but I draw very few dogs, so today I decided to draw the most special dog!

I went ceramics painting with a couple of friends about out a month ago, but due to circumstances / travel / etc I didn’t get my mug back until yesterday. (One of my friends was kind enough to collect mine for me from the store after it was fired so I didn’t lose it)

I think it may design out pretty well, except for the dandelion. I used too dark a glaze. Oh well. Considering I’ve only been to a paint your own ceramics once before and that was a decade ago, I think it came out pretty well ^.^

I’d had the concept for several years, but trying to do it was more difficult than I’d thought.

My favorite part is the zipper on the back of his mask.
