Events have zero reasons to be this dull when the writers have the freedom to use whatever character they want and stories to tell. Why is it that with all of the stuff they have access to, more than half of these scenarios are mediocre? It hurts when interludes have gradually gotten better over the years while events feel like they’re been in the same rut for ages now. 

to be honest with you i think that fgo’s writers do not have the capacity to write lighthearted seasonal events with a good dose of actual character dev and it would be in its interest if type moon expanded its writing circle(jerk) with new and fresh talent that doesn’t have all the self-indulgent bad habits or the narrow, offensive, ignorant perspective of the current writing team so everyone has space to tackle things with the effort they deserve rather than the effort they can barely scrape to give and use only to dissatisfy and insult everyone who plays this damn game on a regular basis

Rewatching the Game Grumps Endless Ocean 2 videos and the bit with the whale reminded me of that part in 20,000 Leagues where Ned is begging Nemo to let him hunt whales, so of course I drew it.

This recent Summer event for JP has me quite surprised. Yu has proven to be a reliable and helpful Senpai to us throughout these few chapters. It feels great to have her put her thousands of years of experience into good use while being this unshakable force of nature in an event filled with servant infused horrors from various genres. 

Servant Summer camp is the Yu interlude I always wanted. 

Just when I thought this upcoming summer would finally give Xiang Yu some much-needed development beyond being an accessory to Hinako’s character, the news page decides to slap me in the face with this: 

“Thus, brandishing her motivation, Yu Miaoyi transformed into a swimsuit, but due to unavoidable circumstances, Xiang Yu remained at Chaldea. End of the First Chapter of Part One.”  

I had zero hopes from the start since Danciao is too expensive but c'mon, at least let me stay in my delusions for another day or two. 

It's a shame that I have to wait for Chapter 4.5 for the next chance of Captain being playable.  At least I have this CE and Castoria to keep me company. 

Also, the CE in question might forebode to a future event/chapter with Nemo suggesting a trip to Antarctica and Sion to Singapore. The south pole has some relevant stuff like the Nautilus flag Nemo placed in the events of 20,000 leagues and Chaldea's former base of operations (recovering some info regarding Olga?). As for Singapore, I got nothing besides it being the potential Summer Campsite this year.

100% this. Between ServaFest and Drake’s 2nd interlude, I’m glad that Blackbeard is getting better appearances after 2 years of garbage. 

Are we talking about Fate Blackbeard now? Great! The reason why Fate Blackbeard really grinds my gears is because the writers are perfectly aware of who Edward Teach actually was: a pirate who was decently educated and who understood the importance of crafting an image. The reason why he made himself look frightening and fought so fiercely was because Teach understood he was only a man, and to be feared you needed to be more than human. When he was surrounded and cornered by the British in the last day of his life, he charged to his death cannons firing and went out in a savage melee. This is why we still remember him, and why he's so famous despite his actual piracy record and even the length of his reign of terror not actually being that impressive compared to the likes of Bartholomew Roberts.

That's why in Okeanos, Teach makes himself out to be an idiot, but Hektor notes that Teach never trusted Hektor and that he was hiding how hard he gripped his gun in all their interactions. Blackbeard was smart enough to smell a rat on his ship, and made himself out to be the pervert anime idiot because he understood that among heroes of legend, he was only a mere man. He knew he needed to go the other way entirely and get people to underestimate him instead.

He gives a hint of his true self as he dies, laughing a pirate's laugh before he disappears just like Drake did in Extra. Blackbeard is supposed to be competent, even if he's not the strongest servant around.

And then everything after Okeanos happened and he was a perv and idiot at best, a pedophile at worst. It's like the writers themselves forgot he was only playing the fool in his first appearance. He's been done so badly that Summer 3 where he's just a big otaku is the most tolerable his character has been in years and that really sucks.

god i really love fgo's story. it feels so grand in scale and awe-inspiring. truly a story/battle of the ages. we've come so far and it's emotional. looking back on the wee ol' days of fate stay night or even early fgo days, i would have never have thought we'd be here. it was always present, even in fsn, but to see it all expanded upon is fulfilling. and you can tell nasu is just having a blast with this, it's great

shi huang di emptying everyone’s pockets with a never ending winning streak at poker cause they’re just that fucking good and having the time of their life playing mindgames with all these randos then immediately getting pissed the fuck off and trying to burn all of las vegas down when you tell them these are all ordinary people gambling their own money and not state representatives with a treasury backing them up bc just thinking about all the basic necessities all that money could’ve bought gets them absolutely livid. literally more angry than they’ve been their entire lostbelt just bc they realized gambling is real deadass this expression from a comedy bit is more furious than anything in their servant expressions

and then you tell them it’s a singularity and they’re like oh! why didn’t you say so sooner there’s no reason to get mad if that’s the case! and mashu’s like you realize we have to tell them eventually that gambling is real outside this singularity too right
