   you  have  tried.     you  have  carried  the  weight  of  the  world  on  your  shoulders  and  accepted  more  responsibilities  than  you  have  ever  wanted,     even  intended  to  gain.     it  isn't  crushing -     you  are  strong  enough  to  hold  it -     but  you  are  choking.     you  don't  know  what  to  do  with  it.     you  don't  know  where  it  goes,     how  to  move  this  weight  everyone  knows  you  can  hold  onto,     and  do  you  even  want  to  get  rid  of  it?     Never.  You  would  not  give  this  to -     force  this  on -     anyone  else.     but  you  /can't/.     but  you  are  choking  on  it.     your  body  will  hold  it  up  even  when  you  lose  all  the  air  in  your  lungs,     and  your  footing,     and  your  courage.     it  does  not  mind  choking  you.     it  seems  almost  designed  to  do  so.     if  you  weren't  wrung  out  you  wouldn't  be  doing  this  thing  properly.

𝙄𝙏  𝙒𝘼𝙎  𝘼𝙉  𝘼𝘾𝘾𝙄𝘿𝙀𝙉𝙏.     too  much  spare  time  on  his  hands.     without  a  villain  roaming  the  streets  calling  out  for  the  invincible  iron  man  to  put  a  stop  to  their  treachery,     he’s  left  to  bask  in  the  unlimited  possibilities  that  reside  within  his  workshop.     which,     naturally,     led  to  the  idea  of  actually  putting  his  brain  to  use,     as  he  had  already  been  toying  around  with  the  idea  of  upgrading  his  latest  suit.

nanotechnology-     not  as  much  fun  as  he  had  been  anticipating.

one  wrong  piece,     and  kablamo-     he’s  choking  on  smoke.     while  letting  out  a  spew  of  coughs,     he  pushes  he  and  his  chair  away  from  the  scene,     vaguely  taking  note  of  dum-e’s  panicked  beeping.     he  pulls  himself  up  in  an  attempt  to  calm  the  poor  robot  down,     but  before  he  even  has  a  moment  to  open  his  mouth,     steve  is  talking.     tony  pulls  his  goggles  up,     allowing  them  to  rest  on  his  hairline.     facial  features  have  a  dark  grey  film  on  them,     though  the  surface  around  his  eyes  are  pristine.     ❝     no  concern  necessary.     just  a  little  loss  of  brilliance.     you  see,     cap’n,     that  charred  mess  on  the  ground  was  supposed  to  be  the  latest  piece  in  the  iron  man  winter  collection,     but  i  don’t  think  it’s  going  to  be  hitting  the  racks  anytime  soon.     ❞

               𝙰𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙴𝙼𝙴𝙽𝚃  𝙰𝙽𝙳  𝙰𝙳𝚁𝙴𝙽𝙰𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙴  𝚆𝙴𝚁𝙴  𝙰  𝙷𝙴𝙰𝙳𝚈  𝙲𝙾𝙲𝙺𝚃𝙰𝙸𝙻,  one  all  too  often  left  intoxicated  by  when  the  other  was  around.  Even  without  the  chaos  of  villainy  and  battle  floating  around  their  heads,  there  was  never  a  dull  day  if  Tony  Stark  was  involved.  So  much  so  that  nary  a  blonde  lash  was  batted   when  a  low  explosion  made  the  floor  underneath  his  feet  quake.

𝐀𝐓  𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓  𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐄  𝐎𝐅  𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐂𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐄  𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃.

❝  Should  I  be  concerned?  ❞    Droll  words  dropped  from  thin  lips  fighting  a  smirk,  as  the  bulk  of  his  body  consumed  the  doorway.  Smoke  plumed  from  a  source  that  the  Captain  couldn’t  locate,  thick  and  charcoal  gray,  as  one  of   the  lab  robots  screeched  across  the  floor  with  a  fire  extinguisher.    ❝  On  a  scale  of  exploded  the  coffee  pot  or  blender  to  ripped  a  hole  into  the  fabric  of  space  and  time,  where  are  we  at,  Tony?  ❞

chin  hooks  her  shoulder,     eyes  closing  in  momentary  bliss.     comfort  so  pure,     and  genuine.     there  are  moments  where  he’s  able  to  kid  himself  into  believing  that  he  doesn’t  long  for  affection,     nor  reassurance,     however  that’s  nothing  short  of  a  lie.     somewhere  deep  inside,     he’s  still  merely  a  child  looking  for  a  pat  on  the  back.     if  eyes  had  begun  to  water,     no  one  would  know  better,     for  just  as  emotions  begin  to  surface,     he’s stifling  them  back  down  again.
