This was the last, but I feel, the best part of a poem I posted on IG... Any thoughts or constructive criticism welcomed. 😊
Words
Part 8
In human connection,
the most powerful weapons
aren't swords or guns,
but words and puns.
It matters not so much
what we say
or how we speak,
but what remains
and what we keep;
safely tucked away,
far and deep.
For, as well as we listen,
so too can we replay
words that made us weep,
or with joy, made our eyes glisten.
Puns that made our day,
ideas so deep,
laughter that erased our sadness,
wise words that showed
a better way,
smiles that soothed life's cruelty,
special phrases that never get old,
remembered fluently,
often retold.
But more than any words we hear or say to others:
The stories and myths
we tell ourselves, time
and time again...
when life makes no sense.
The stories we can change
at any time...
Sad words rearranged
in a kinder, loving way,
to redefine
tragedies that threaten
to overwhelm, destroy,
elope with desired destiny
that lies just beyond
this epiphany:
What we feel and imagine
creates potential reality,
but how we act and respond
determines actuality
and leaves ripples
far beyond...
Human nature favours
complexity, confusion
and problems to solve.
But dignity and peace
lies in listening, clarity,
simplicity and love.
