OK, but...Izzy telling Ed multiple times and without his consent that Stede is Ed's boyfriend. Ed neither responding to nor denying it, and not giving Izzy the right to actually define his relationship with Stede, even as he has to listen to it. Izzy is once again telling Ed who he is.
THEN STEDE DEFINES IT. ON ACCIDENT. AS NATURALLY AS BREATHING. And rather than expecting Ed to accept it, he pauses and turns and asks if it's OK. It's up to Ed. Ed gets to say yes or no. He gets to decide if that word fits, and he knows that Stede won't reject him or run from him, no matter what he says. Stede doesn't own him, not his name or what he wants to be called or not called. Stede just wants to be with him.
And he fucking loves it.
