Importing this from twitter because I figured you all might like it
I didn't find anything like this in my search for it, so I put together all of the characters that are in the Adventurer's Bible into a height reference chart.

Coquette Style Guide: 1920s Inspired
Tumblr media
Note: This was a period of great innovation in fashion, but also of great colonialism. When looking for / dealing with true vintage clothing, fashions from this era can depict caricatures of other cultures, or co-opt traditional fashions and motifs from non-European / western places and claim it is innovation. This was inexcusable at the time and remains so now. I note this because there was a huge rise in western tourism to places like Africa (especially Egypt), Japan, China, and India at this time; fashions directly stolen from, or hacking and repackaging traditional clothing / art from these places were extremely common. I think this is very important to acknowledge, but I will not be including these items in the style guide for obvious reasons. Much love, Jade
Fashion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1920s fashion was marked by a dramatic silhouette shift, which mirrored a shift in culture. The restrictive and highly embellished look of the Victorian and Edwardian era was issued for fashions that favored function & freedom of movement. This new look went hand in hand with the liberated spirit of the era- we see the rise of sportswear around this time as leisure activities like tennis and swimming become more available to women, and of course the iconic party dresses of the “flapper girl” in the second half of the century.
Look for or pull from your wardrobe:
• Dresses with relaxed silhouettes / dropped waistlines in fabrics like cotton, linen, silk, wool, or lightweight blends.
• Wide leg pants and jumpsuits! Palazzo style pants became a trend in the late 20s, along with “beach pajamas” (lightweight jumpsuits or sets for summer, often cotton or silk.)
• Patterns like florals, gingham, pinstripes, and dots were popular.
• Any Colors! This look is more in the details than a specific palette.
• Details like lace, beading, flutter sleeves and fluttery hemlines, geometric patterns, floral motifs, embroidery, sailor collars, large loose ribbons and bows (think more like droopy oversized bows than clean-cut ones.)
• There was also a fun uptick in stylish lounge wear! Silky matching sets, kimonos, delicate robes etc.
Accessories
Tumblr media
Accessories of the period were heavily inspired by the art deco movement (clean lines, symmetry, geometric designs.) We see some of the first jewelry made from early plastics (celluloid) and lots of handmade beaded accessories!
Look for, make, or pull from your wardrobe:
• Bead crocheted necklaces (pictured,) simple pendants, glass or plastic beaded necklaces
• Bangles! Especially rhinestoned or carved
• Beaded, metal mesh / chainmail purses
• Compacts
• Knee high stockings (tie a ribbon around the top by your knee for an extra vintage touch!)
• Fun hair clips or hair combs (especially rhinestoned!)
• When in doubt think: would this be fun, sparkly, and jingly if I was dancing in a jazz club?
Hair
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the era of the bob baby!!! Sleek or fluffy cropped hair, finger waves, gelled styles, and short curls were popular. By no means do you have to have short hair though! The look can be faked with styling, or you can incorporate hair accessories / trends from the period on longer hair.

Makeup
Whether you leave more vamp or ingenue a few elements are constant. (See above for ref as well!)
• Thiiiiiiin brows
• Very pronounced cupids bow / heart shaped lip look
• Sharp cat eye or rounder doe eye look
