this also isn't worth a damn, it's already gone
i think a lot about how little progress ive made in circulating works for how long i've been doing art, and the dread i feel when thinking about it has reached a point of overarching doom. i cant tell if im stressing myself out to the point of quiet panic or if its real and justified

it feels like dogshit to effectively say "im giving up" and feel like even that doesn't register. comics/illustrations/creative work is all i do with my time and it's not worth a damn to anyone- that it's just text and pictures to get consumed first and forgotten like two minutes later with zero weight, for vents like this built up and compounded passively over years or art that's taken me days, months to finish.

unless it's directly related to neo-a, im not gonna be posting my work i don't think- all that comes out of my mouth is invisible gibberish, and when it comes to never going anywhere or never being able to keep up with my peers regardless of how much i work or how little i sleep or self care, there isn't anything that can be done to make things better. i have to accept that i'm a bad artist and forget about going anywhere in my life but custodial

like- i don't know what i'm supposed to be doing. im making comic shit/illustrations for myself at this point because i can't make a career out of them. i can work myself to exhaustion but none of that work has or will ever bring me to the same level as my peers- years on whatever sites i can keep up with and nothing's changed/nothing's gone anywhere, and it's beyond disheartening.

As of now, Florida and Kansas have passed bills that align with KOSA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many people have held back on speaking out against KOSA or signing petitions because "it probably won't pass." But we have proof that it very well can and will.
So what can we do right now?
The same thing we've been doing: bring awareness and protest.
Here are a few websites you can visit to sign petitions:
https://www.badinternetbills.com/
https://www.stopkosa.com/
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/02/dont-fall-latest-changes-dangerous-kids-online-safety-act
You can also call your state reps. This post explains how you can do that.
Good luck, everyone! Don't give up yet.

Hi. I'm a Mexican trans woman who lost her job and is living out of donations.
Any support towards this would be monumental and appreciated.

I can't offer much, but perhaps you know me for the stuff I've translated:
https://mangadex.org/group/cd2dec68-2dee-4b2f-aa6f-234f51f8e9e4/elpsykongroo
Or because of the "Yay! I'm ____" edits.
Please, if I've at least given you a smile pls consider helping me out this time. Any amount is appreciated.
Thanks.

They Do Not Exist (1974) by Mustafa Abu Ali (watch)
from PalestineCinema.com:
Salvaged from the ruins of Beirut after 1982, Abu Ali's early film has only recently been made available. Shooting under extraordinary conditions, the director, who worked with Godard on his Ici et Ailleurs (Here and Elsewhere), and founded the PLO's film division, covers conditions in Lebanon's refugee camps, the effects of Israeli bombardments, and the lives of guerrillas in training camps. They Do Not Exist is a stylistically unique work which demonstrates the intersection between the political and the aesthetic. Now recognised as a cornerstone in the development of Palestinian cinema, the film only received its Palestine premiere in 2003, when a group of Palestinian artists "smuggled" the director to a makeshift cinema in his hometown of Jerusalem (into which Israel bars his entry). Abu Ali, who saw his film for the first time in 20 years at this clandestine event noted: "We used to say 'Art for the Struggle', now it's 'Struggle for the Art'"
