Unconditional love

I’ve come to realize that love really is accepting that person for who they are in the moment and place they are in. For their past, present, and future. When I was little, I was told that when I die, my life will play like a movie before the eyes of God and all humanity. Every thought, action, sin, and good deed. Everything. It scared me so much that even into my young adulthood and adulthood, it haunted me. Of course, my first thought always went to my family. What would me mom, dad, grandma think about the things I have done. Let face it, no one is perfect and we all sin. Some more powerfully than others. But then I met you. At first it was nothing serious and we just enjoyed each others company. Then things started to get serious. We became official and still, we enjoyed each other so much.

I started noticing so many signs from the universe about you and me. It scared me. Yes, I beilieve in numerology and astrology and signs from the universe. The address of my job is your name. We have the same numerology number, 11. The kicker was that we have the same birthmark on our right shoulder shaped like a triangle. That did me in. Still won’t admit it to myself because this independent Aquarius wants nothing to do with the idea of being tied down by the idea of love. But then, it happened.

As I lay in my bathtub, texting you of course, I went back to that thought. The one from my childhood. And I was no longer scared because I knew.... no matter the sin, the darkness in my heart, the most hidden crevices of my soul.... you would never judge me. You would never stop being next to me. You would forgive unconditionally.

But what burned through me like a lightning bolt to the chest, I would too. I don’t care what you did, in anger or love. I would never judge you. I would forgive you... just like they say Jesus would forgive us. I have strayed from religion for clear reasons, but what I have been taught cannot be erased. I would love and forgive you like Him above.

And that scared me. We are not at the point in our relationship to say those three words, but I cannnot lie to myself because I feel them in my heart. This is why I am still scared. Scared it’s only one-sided. Scared I’ll push you away because that’s what I do. Scared that this will not be my forever.
