Here’s some positivity for two-spirit systems and headmates!
Two-spirit systems and headmates have a vital and essential place both in the plural and queer communities. In a world where violence against both trans and indigenous people is commonplace, now more than ever we must show unwavering devotion and support to the two-spirit people in our spaces. Each indigenous community is different, and two-spirit people may hold diverse views and beliefs about what their two-spirit identities mean to them. Regardless of how you view yourself, your gender, and your relationships to your people and your two-spirit identity, this post goes out to all you two-spirit headmates and systems!
🌈 Shoutout to systems who are reconnecting with their identities as indigenous or two-spirit!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who fulfill sacred roles, duties, rituals, and ceremonies in their communities!
💕 Shoutout to individual two-spirit headmates in indigenous, non two-spirit systems!
🌈 Shoutout to indigenous systems who are questioning whether or not they are two-spirit!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are activists, organizers, or spread awareness about indigenous and two-spirit identities!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are artists, musicians, writers, or creators who explore their identities in their creative works!
🌈 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are both Mothers and Fathers, and who embody both maternal and paternal or masculine and feminine energies!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are genderless or who exist outside of any gender binary!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who long to take over sacred roles in their community, but are nervous about starting or don’t know where to begin!
🌈 Shoutout to disabled two-spirit systems - you are a crucial and vital part of the communities you belong to!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are closeted or unable to come out as two-spirit currently for their own comfort safety!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who take great pride in their identities as plural, indigenous, and two-spirit!
We hope that all two-spirit systems and headmates can have a lovely day today! Please try to take it easy and show yourself and your system some gentleness and compassion today. Remember that you are such a valued and cherished member of the plural community and the queer community as well! We really appreciate your perspectives and are honored to be able to share this space with you.
Two-spirit systems! If you read this and have a way for others to support you (through art, creative content, donations, a shop, PayPal/Cashapp/Venmo/Kofi, literally anything at all!) please send us your posts so we can reblog/boost here! To our non-indigenous followers, show some love and support to the two-spirit systems in our spaces today, if you have the means and ability to do so!
As always, thank you so much for reading! Please take care of yourselves and your system, and have a wonderful day!

I was moved by the protests yesterday in Canada. Despite the things that happened during the course of the day, the reasons for the protest are clear: No Fracking, No Drilling, No Pipeline on Indian lands. It is about Sovereignty, Indigenous lands, and the desire to protect it. I support this and believe it to be vital to sustain Native ways, culture, language and life. I created this poster as a show of solidarity. This should be available on the Honor The Treaties site soon, but did not want to delay getting it out NOW. So here is the deal: This is open source, and free for consumption. If it speaks to you, download, print, or use for whatever. The original size is 36"x24". Conceivably, you could take the large file to Kinkos and print it full size. I know a number of protests are going on today, so please feel free to use this! I have different download sizes below:

Do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions at all! Peace!

You can't be two-spirit if you're white 👏👏
No, you can't be two-spirit if you're white 👏👏
Two-spirit's just for natives, 'cause it's not the way that you live,
So you can't be two-spirit if you're white 👏👏

hi I recently found your blog and I just wanted to thank you. I've always felt a very strong connection to my native ancestry but I was raised white and my family members (thanks to racism) see our non-white history as a point of shame.
despite this, I was raised knowing of our ancestry. as a child I was under the impression I wasn't white because I experienced racialized discrimination from family members. (my hair and eyes are darker than theirs. my skin has a more warm/olive undertone). as I got older, my family shamed me more for wanting to reconnect and I also became more white passing as my skin got lighter.
I know for a fact that my ancestors were Creek/Muscogee, Scottish, and Irish. I feel so weird trying to reconnect because I can't really ask family and I feel so separated from my native culture, it feels invasive and wrong to ask as an outsider.
I'm always so afraid of coming off as "that white person" that's trying to claim ancestry that isn't theirs. but I feel such an ache when I think of everything that's been lost.
I'm not really sure where to end this, but thank you again. it's reassuring to hear other's stories and experiences that I can relate to.
It can be hard reconnecting later in life and feeling like so much has been lost and I'm sorry you feel that pain. I don't wish it on anyone. As someone also reconnecting to my Indigenous culture later in life and dealing with same grief, I find courage in the knowledge that I'm carrying this grief so my descendants don't have to. I'm putting in the effort to relearn and reconnect so my children and grandchildren never feel like a stranger to their communities. I promise you that you'll feel less like a stranger as you keep learning. It gets easier 🙏🏼

I am interested to know exactly what you are fighting for? The truth of the matter is there are no 'Last real Indians', unfortunately they have all been killed, brutal as it is, it was the modern age surpassing the stone age. American Indians in the present day and largely mixed and hardly entitled to a racial identity. Stop segregating yourselves from society and play the game like the rest of us.
Indigenous ways are far more advanced than so-called civilization. Long after the western empire fails we’ll still be here. It took y’all a mere 200 years to bring the planet to the verge of destruction. Meanwhile Natives lived in balance with Earth for thousands of years and she took care of us.
Come to the Rez, in our treaty lands, and tell all us Last Real Indians we don’t exist. You’re blinded by your own ignorance.
We fight for our children. We are taught to think ahead 7 generations and do what’s best for them. They deserve clean water and unpolluted lands. They deserve to be content, and healthy. Our ways are beautiful and we continue them so future Natives can pray where they are meant to, speak their language, know who they are, and perform ceremonies that keep harmony within the Universe.
Your society wants everything, including us. There is nothing you have that we want. Think about that.

When you treat someone as the solution to all your problems, you tend to become pretty angry when they can't actually fix all those problems.
With the rise of weird fetishistic worship of indigenous people as "protectors of the land" in liberal and leftist circles, we're also going to be seeing a wave of backlash against indigenous people when things DON'T get fixed, accusations that we aren't really indigenous, and people turning back to the idea that we can't be trusted with our lands. When you are treated as a perfect savior, there is no room for failure.

Reconnection is worth it.
Reconnection is worth it if you are black, it is worth it if you are white, it is worth it if you are asian, it is worth it if you are middle eastern, it is worth it if you are jewish, it is worth it if you are latine, it is worth it if you have a high blood quantumn, it is worth it if you have a low blood quantumn, it is worth it if you knew your culture a bit or are starting from scratch, it is worth it if you are afraid of making a misstep, it is worth it to learn who and what you are, it is worth it because your ancestors will be so happy you remember them.
Reconnection is worth it. You are native enough.

Imposter Syndrome as a native person is very real, especially if you're reconnecting or white-presenting.
Whenever pretendians with large platforms built on their "heritage" are outed as liars, it can affect actual natives mental health - which is why pretendians are such a huge issue.
To all natives with Imposter Syndrome, it's hard but you know your heritage and who you are - don't let liars take that away from you, especially when they want to be you.

introduction
hello, we're mutt/hound/puppy (it/its), a median system of reconnecting natives (choctaw).
We had a blog similar to this one, which we deleted, but lately we've realized theres a lack of reconnecting resources and representation.
theres no dni for this blog, but please tag kosmemophobia and drugs/alcohol/smoking appropriately. we're also dyslexic, so misspellings/misunderstandings will happen.
