good morning. thinking about how mstief loves a look-this-way-and-then-does-something-the-other-way moment.
anyway. the slow background build that begins in trk when gansey tells adam not to hurt ronan bc ronan can’t take more heartbreak and then continues in cdth when declan worries about what could happen if adam leaves ronan. but the slow build that adam is going to break ronan’s heart actually goes nowhere except to the realization that it didn’t matter, bc ronan was going to break his own heart. this is about ronan.

spare headcanons for pynch plz ?
always
sometimes, even when theyre older, in their 30s and 40s, and they miss their youth, they will walk through the forest, hand in hand (sometimes barefoot if ronan is annoying enough to convince adam) and remember who they were before they became adults
adam being very cold in the winter (and he hates, hates the cold) and so he is always extra cuddly in bed, pushing up on ronan, nose by ronan's neck, hands in ronan's pants, etc etc
in the summer it's ronan with his shirt off working the barns, adam returning from his Adult Job on the motorcycle and suddenly even though its so fucking hot out they have to be on one another or else they'll combust and die (because they're drama kings)
ronan continues to fill out his tattoos, and on one of his arms its reached a half sleeve and adam is there--their latin words etched into ronan's skin and adam thinks that it's better than any ring on their fingers
but of course ronan proposes anyhow a few weeks later. it's an odd proposal--they got into a silly argument (those ones where it's had and over in a span of 10 minutes) and ronan ends it with: i think it's about time we get fucking married and adam's mouth is open, because he thought he would say something back in their fight but instead a laugh falls out of him and he says okay. and they smile stupidly at one another
oh also adam drawing something on ronan's bicep, like a little ghost, and ronan gets it tattooed on him eep
even though they sometimes miss their youth, ronan especially is so comfortable getting older and watching adam get older. as adam's gray hair sets in and laugh lines start to appear, ronan, if possible loves him even more. he's obsessed with growing old together, wanting him always, having him whenever.
"i didn't know old men turned you on, ronan."
and the years pass them slowly and steadily, quiet and soft. no blood, no death, just working the farm, helping people, laughing with friends, taking holidays, fucking
ronan and adam have a slow dance in the living room on adam's 70th birthday, after everyone has gone and left them alone. and adam allows himself to be lead, to be held, thanks the heavens he has been blessed to have such a love in his life
