My name's Sophie and I'm a house of cards you're the inspiration that sent me hope and with you I kinda know I WILL get far. You stood there in front of me just close enough to touch close enough for me so see past my illness, bullies and very hard past.
So lovely to hear from Taylor. On behalf of the whole fandom, Taylor we have missed you and the serotonin you give us SO MUCH! 💕
It only took one day to confirm what I had suspected for years: Paul McCartney is the loveliest person alive. Thank you @rollingstone for making this happen. The Musicians on Musicians Issue is out now 🙏
💞 1 year of Lover 💞 I can’t believe it’s a year already! I can’t believe the Lover era is even over. I don’t think it truly is because when covid is over we will celebrate by going to a tour and screaming lover lyrics at the top of our lungs, dancing to Lover at big celebrations and meeting up with each other again. Lover will remind us of before covid and remind us to be grateful for our family being safe from covid and our lives being free and beautifully “normal”. Lover truly is a celebration of love in all its forms!
“It was all because of Ed Sheeran, Ed and I are friends… The story goes that they were singing a song of mine together the night they were in the studio together, they were singing “Set The Fire To The Third Bar” which is a song that I sing with Martha Wainwright. And it was like, ‘Gary lives just about a mile away from the studio, so you want me to get him in?’ So she said, 'Yes, bring him in.’ And I went into the studio and I actually ended up singing on the song that Taylor and Ed did for that album, the Red album. And then I can’t remember whether I asked Taylor or she asked me - it might have been me asking her - if she wanted to write a song together. We went in together, myself, Taylor and Jacknife Lee, who’s Snow Patrol’s producer. We did that song “The Last Time” in a day. In one day we wrote and recorded it and finished it all, that was all done in a day. So that’s very fast how she works, which is extraordinary really. I think that’s probably the fastest that we’ve ever finished or completed a song. So she’s extraordinarily talented and great to work with.”

“Taylor is brilliant, because she knows exactly what she wants. It’s very easy to work with someone like her, who’s got it all figured out. I don’t really need to do anything with Taylor or Si (Simon Neil) from Biffy (Clyro) and Ed Sheeran. I just make sure I’m not in the way! Knowing when to pitch in and knowing when to shut the hell up is key when you’re in with such amazing talents. Ed, Taylor and Si are the three loveliest people in music.”

“Exile was a song that was written about miscommunications in relationships, and in the case of this song I imagine that the miscommunications ended the relationship - that they led to sort of the demise of this love affair. And now these two people are seeing each other out for the first time and they keep miscommunicating with each other, they can’t quite get on the same page, they never were able to. So even in their end, even after they’ve broken up they’re still not hearing each other, so we imagined that the beginning of it would be his side of the story, second verse would be her side of the story, and then the end would be sort of them talking over each other and not listening to the other, sort of like an argument. Yeah, I’m really stoked about how it turned out because it really does seem like this sort of tragedy of two people, two ships passing in the night.”
