Okay hear me out. Imagine Soap and Ghost getting into a massive argument. Ghost doesn't like how reckless Soap is and Soap doesn't think he's reckless. A soldier does what he needs to for the mission. It's not a normal fight though it's one that the entire team can feel even though they try hiding it. Ghost and Soap just stop talking outside of missions. No kisses, no late night sneaking into each other's rooms, no I love yous....not that ghost ever said it back. Soap thinks it's fucking stupid how pissed Ghost is. So what if he's sometimes a little reckless? It's not like ghost isn't too. A soldier does what he needs to. So if that soldier takes a bullet to the head at least he did so protecting his captain. what's the problem? It's just another soldier who died protecting people who will never know his name. Just another tool. Another I love you Simon never got to say. Another person Simon Riley grieves. Suddenly the fight feels so stupid to Ghost because it didn't solve anything. Why couldn't he just talk through his feelings? Why did he get angry instead? Why is he like this? Why is it his father's face staring back at him in the mirror?
