I made the mistake with this one to change the lighting half way through the painting which always messes with the values and colors, but oh well. Sometimes a painting doesn't go the way you want to and then you got to let it go. But I still like the overall comp and all that, so you get to see it, haha. Maybe I manage to be a bit clearer in terms of values with that extra painting that I have planned for this scene, because this scene is just too good to only get one.

Achilles’ deleted monologue about his life
Unfortunately, it was removed off YouTube a few years ago, but luckily I still had a screen recorded audio file of this bit
And luckily, I was able to use it for my storyboarding assignment!
I hope you guys like it! I think Achilles was a really underrated character and I still don’t get why this exchange was cut out (along with one where Achilles talks about Ziio)
Um... Might I ask if I can request Arno and Connor doing some bonding?? Or smth together if that's cool? I mean we were robbed that they're the closest in their respective times and we didn't get anything imho
Painting from imagination as a quarantine project, this is how I pictured Heston’s estate (with some creative liberties) at some point after the end of the books.
Another practise painting from imagination, heavily inspired by Prince of Egypt BG paintings. Trying to go for that optimism of early morning sunrise lighting (click for bigger/crisper images!)
An photo study of real life Villa Kérylos in Beaulieu-sur-mer, to practice lighting and perspective, then exaggerated the scale and added fanart elements. This is mostly inspired by hours of watching assassins creed odyssey locations and wishing I could visit those places for real!
EDIT: did some more work on the tree and characters!
Giant ridiculous medieval hats are the best. I imagine he’d have a whole collection ‘for disguise purposes’. Also: starburst anchor plates as imaginary architecture feature, cause it’s a fantasy culture anyway. Expressing my desire to travel to European cities through painting.
Again, 90% of this was inspired by the vacation feels I get from Assassins Creed Odyssey locations. I know that it’s missing waves and reflections, but I kinda enjoy the calm pool feeling I got by accident, so left them out on purpose.
I also enjoy how different crops can make it like a little comic!
Described in the book as ‘overwhelmingly decorative’ the palace of Arles always made me think of Alhambra and those crazy complex rotating mosaic pillars of Orvieto Cathedral. An exercise in overpainting!
