Also fun fact about me: I always knew that Hussie would never have Gamzee redeemed for real, but past me naively hoped we would see an alternate timeline Gamzee that never somersaulted off the slippery slope and was still a lovable stoner.
That’d just be a stoner for me. Never found him all that lovable, personally.

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the Epilogues at all. It's gone way overboard with the Grimdarkness, several characters are mischaracterized, pushed aside, or forgotten about, and there's quite a few continuity errors when you try to compare to the webcomic. The plot doesn't progress this way because it make sense for it to happen that way, it happens just because the authors made it happened.
That’s disappointing to hear, but hey, experiences aren’t universal. Though I expect to have the same issues.
Also I think I was just being a dramatic bitch when I decided to pause my liveblog. I’ll get back into it eventually, just gotta get the next chapter of my fanfic written first.

Important Announcement
I already posted this on the Discord, but for those of you who aren’t there:
Okay so there won't be a liveblog today. Maybe there won't be one for quite some time. I'm just feeling really down on the Epilogues recently - maybe I'm just feeling down in general idk I'm not really good at understanding my own mental health - and I don't really wanna read a dark, depressing story about my favourite characters being destroyed for the sake of themes. (I also haven't been able to watch the end of Stranger Things season 3 because I'm just not in the mood for horror and darkness (and yet I'm reading A Song of Ice and Fire, go figure)) And maybe the spoilers I already know have just kinda ruined the experience for me. Idk that's just how I'm feeling right now. It might change tomorrow, or in a week, or never, as the case may be. Sorry I can't be more specific, and sorry this is so sudden and early. But hey if I never do pick 'em up again, at least you haven't had time to invest yourselves in my blog yet.

Session 5 End
Tumblr media
Yeah, I know I said I might do two chapters today, but there’s a reason I said might.
Honestly, the whole losing 40 minutes waiting for the computer to work and restarting thing has just put me right out of the mood for liveblogging. I was very distractible and irritated while reading, which likely bled through into my posts, which sounded snippy even as I was writing them, and I’m sorry for that.
So yeah. Now I should actually talk about the chapter.
It was really more of an... epilogue... than a chapter in it’s own right.
Dirk had a mental breakdown after feeling a disturbance in the force, and then sent ominous messages to his friends - except Roxy, curiously. But maybe that’s because she already knew stuff about the situation.
I found out Dirk and Jake duel on TV and if that isn’t fucking hilarious I don’t know what is.
Overall though, the chapter was kinda a chore to read. Whatever, I’ll see if the story picks up again next chapter.

Blech.
I don’t know what it is, but this entire paragraph just reads atrociously.
And that’s where we’re ending for now.

Fuck you.
This right here? This is dissipation. Because the real Dirk Strider would never think these things. Dirk is the only person in the entirety of Homestuck who recognises that Jake has his own smarts, and certainly the only person who appreciates them.
Dissipation is honestly a concept that has made me feel a lot better about the Epilogues. Before I read them all I could think was that it sounded like the characters were horrendously OOC, Dirk especially - I mean his entire fucking emotional arc in Homestuck is about fearing that he’s a bad person and doing his best not to be. So the idea that he starts committing heinous acts never made sense to me as something that could happen and I was suspecting that the Epilogue wouldn’t provide a satisfactory explanation for taking his character in that direction. But that’s the entire point of Candy, that nobody is acting as they canonically would.
Which I guess is fine. It does make me less interested in where Candy is going though, since none of the characters are going to act like themselves. And I can’t really see a point to reading that.
I mean I’m still going to, but still.

I’m sorry, their what?
Are you telling me Dirk Strider and Jake English duel each other for entertainment on global TV?
WHAT THE HELL?
Has someone written a fanfic about this? Because I need to read it.
Provided it has a lot of flirty banter and has them back together as a couple.

Why should she? You’ve given her no reason to do what you say at all.
You kinda just sound like a raving madman, Dirk.

This narration is too comical for my liking.

Isn’t it just?
Also: “caper like this” or “caper like this”? Is there something specific or isn’t there?

So he wasn’t talking about anything specific they had planned. Alright, good to know.

Oh don’t be so melodramatic. I’ll put the timeline right in like 38 chapters, so don’t worry about it.

...
Is that the right text colour? ‘Cause I don’t think it is. Looks too muted. DOES THIS MEAN SOMETHING? Or did the writers just realise that bright cyan on white is difficult to read?

Alright, I’m back. Sorry about that. Now where were we?
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the two villainous kids together at the same time. Nice.
I’m less hurt by Jane’s face-heel-turn because she was never a favourite character. She just didn’t get much to do.
Also I know he said “cancel everything” but are there specific plans he’s talking about that he’s telling her to cancel?

Alright so for any of you who are following me live atm, but aren’t in the Discord, my computer’s acting up and being real slow, and stopping responding constantly. So I’m gonna restart my computer. So I’ll be back in like five/ten minutes.

Damn. Well that’s one way to start a chapter.
Dirk:
Tumblr media
Also hello there, Dirk. I take it you’re the Dirk who’s gonna end up being a villain?
Y’know, I really wish I didn’t know this shit. It would be so much more effective if I started out rooting for Dirk because he’s one of my favourite characters, and later learned he was a villain to my horror. But alas, we will never see what that would’ve been like.
