Shenzhen Longhua Hosts Immersive Digital Technology Experience Event Foreign Talents Appreciate the Charm of Longhua's Technology
“What digital smart services are available in Shenzhen Longhua?” “What are the eye-catching ‘black tech’ products from Longhua companies?” The answers to these questions were revealed during an immersive digital technology experience event. On March 31st, the event “Shenzhen Technology Stories · Foreign Talents Explore Smart Longhua” and the offline sharing session of the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club” were held at the Longhua International Cooperation Center, attracting nearly 40 foreign talents and enthusiasts from the technology field.
The keywords “digitalization”, “technologization”, and “intelligentization” permeated the day's event and were the most direct impressions of Longhua for the foreign attendees. At the Longhua District Future City Exhibition Hall, through vivid digital charts, audiovisuals, and interactive installations, they gained an intuitive understanding of Longhua's historical roots, marveling at the tremendous transformation from a manufacturing town to a digital district.
Sava Tomoiaga, a Shenzhen entrepreneur since the 1990s, was amazed by the day-to-day changes in the Longhua District. She said, “New libraries and art galleries have been built here. I will bring my children to visit these places, looking forward to coming to Longhua again.”
Muhammad Hamza Younes, a PhD student at Shenzhen University, stated that he had never visited Longhua before, and today's visit left him with a profound impression of Longhua's technological and green development.
Louay Ali Dib (Luoyi) believes that the cost of living in the Longhua District is very reasonable. Living here, one can enjoy a high-quality life at a relatively low cost, experiencing convenience and comfort. In his view, this is the most unique charm of the Longhua District.
At the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club” Longhua Showroom, located in the Longhua District International Cooperation Center, the five major industrial clusters of Longhua including low-altitude economy, digital economy, new energy, high-end medical equipment, semiconductors, and integrated circuits were showcased, dazzling the foreign tech enthusiasts present.
Humanoid robots capable of performing thousands of actions and tasks, a monitoring system capable of real-time monitoring of intercellular fluid glucose levels for 14 days, and photon transparent TVs that perfectly integrate virtual images with the real environment… These impressive black tech products from local enterprises in Longhua won widespread acclaim. Additionally, the “Love Letters to Shenzhen” confession wall also attracted the attention of foreign friends. By scanning a QR code to leave messages, they wrote moving city love letters to Shenzhen in their mother tongues, expressing genuine emotions.
This event also marked the official launch of the “Global Messenger · Shenzhen Stories Club”. As a highlight of the journey to Longhua's technology, a unique technology story theme sharing session immersed all attendees in the endless charm of technology. Three foreign technology experts shared their stories of engaging in the tech field and their experiences closely related to technology.
Michael John Eagleton from Australia spoke on the theme of “The Application of Technology in Shenzhen”. Eagleton deeply interpreted Shenzhen's remarkable progress in fields such as 5G technology, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and electric vehicles. He emphasized that Shenzhen not only has a deep culture of technological innovation but is also the first choice for global innovators and entrepreneurs, adding infinite vitality to the city's technological development.
Following him, Alain Garner shared on the theme of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)”. He suggested that the next important direction for AI is to transform it from complex textual content to genuinely human-centered design. His views sparked deep reflection among attendees on how artificial intelligence technology could better serve human society.
Finally, Louay Ali Dib (Luoyi) from Syria discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on humanity, sparking resonance among the audience.
The event concluded with the award ceremony for the “Most Active Messenger of 2023”, recognizing nine individuals who actively participated in international activities over the past year, conveying Shenzhen's stories and voice to the international community.
The “Shenzhen Global Messenger Plan” was initiated by EyeShenzhen in June last year. The plan aims to invite international individuals interested in Shenzhen's urban development, willing to actively participate in Shenzhen's international city construction, and possessing professional backgrounds and influential circles to serve as Shenzhen's global messengers. These messengers will share Shenzhen's city stories on international social media and various media platforms, spreading city observations and collectively building an international communication community with Shenzhen characteristics.
The event was hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, the Office of the Foreign Affairs Working Committee of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee (Shenzhen Municipal People's Government Foreign Affairs Office), and the People's Government of Longhua District, Shenzhen. It was undertaken by the Longhua District International Cooperation Center and EyeShenzhen of the Shenzhen Media Group.

Extra! The Convention on Wetlands approves the establishment of the International Mangrove Center in Shenzhen, China
At 15:23 local time on September 6th in Geneva, the 62nd meeting of the Standing Committee of the Convention on Wetlands reviewed and approved the regional motion proposal submitted by China to establish an international mangrove center in Shenzhen, marking the official establishment of the international mangrove center.
At the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands last year, China announced that it would strengthen international cooperation in wetland protection and establish an international mangrove center in Shenzhen. In the past year, China has made joint efforts with relevant contracting parties and the Convention Secretariat to submit a construction plan for a mangrove center to the 62nd Standing Committee of the Convention, which has been recognized and approved by the Standing Committee. After the adoption of the regional motion, it will be beneficial for China to carry out international cooperation and dialogue and exchange on mangrove protection and restoration with various contracting parties through the convention platform, effectively promoting global mangrove protection, restoration and rational utilization, and continuously expanding its central influence.
In recent years, the Chinese government has attached great importance to the protection of mangroves. In the Wetland Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, mangrove provisions have been specifically established, and the "Special Action Plan for Mangrove Protection and Restoration (2020-2025)" has been organized and implemented. A diversified funding investment model dominated by the government has been established, and more than 10 technical documents have been issued, including afforestation and ecological restoration. After efforts, the area of mangroves in China has increased by over 7200 hectares compared to the beginning of this century, completely reversing the trend of area reduction and entering a new stage of high-quality development. Next, the International Mangrove Center will promote international cooperation and joint actions for mangrove protection, restoration, and rational utilization by establishing an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial international cooperation mechanism for mangrove and coastal blue carbon ecosystems, and contribute to global sustainable development.
The settlement of the world's first "International Mangrove Center" in Shenzhen has a great promoting effect on building Shenzhen into a more globally influential economic center city and a modern international metropolis, promoting the modernization construction of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Shenzhen will also take this opportunity to vigorously strengthen the regulatory system, engineering planning, investigation and monitoring, international cooperation and other basic work of wetland protection. At the same time, combined with national space, we will create an international wetland city, continuously enhance Shenzhen's international influence in the field of ecological protection, create more ecological well-being for global wetland and mangrove protection, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Passing down the torch of knowledge, teaching without discrimination, the summer cultural research and experiential learning program in Futian District brings about remarkable outcomes!
Approaching life through drama, actively contemplating current issues; visiting various themed pavilions in Futian District to experience the richness of history; enrolling in summer camps to bravely showcase personal charm... In August 2023, Futian District launched the 'Research-Rich Summer' public cultural summer program, focusing on traditional culture, regional characteristics, and contemporary topics, tailoring the experience for children in the district and immersing them in cultural activities.
As the nation's first public cultural hub dedicated to after-school research and learning, the Futian District Public Cultural Research Base, since its inception, has consistently been rooted in the practical development of the local community. With the aim of meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of more students, it has been dedicated to constructing comprehensive research and learning artistic supply framework that covers every child and family. Reportedly, in 2023, the Futian District Public Cultural Research Base has organized 75 research and learning activities, benefiting over 5,000 students from Futian. Continuously promoting high-quality development in public cultural services in the district, it serves as an innovative example for providing spiritual and cultural products for the youth.
Innovation and practice, paving new paths for research and learning education
Children's drama is an educational approach and cultural medium that vividly transforms complex real-world issues into lively performances. However, as an imported concept, children's drama is still in its infancy domestically. Futian District actively benchmarks advanced educational experiences both domestically and internationally. It actively explores the growth of localized children's drama and creates a 'third classroom' that integrates knowledge, education, and art for the youth of Futian.
During the summer research and learning month, the Futian District Public Cultural Research Base fully harnesses the educational function of children's drama, focusing on hot topics such as children's self-protection, ecological conservation, and children's psychological well-being. Five children's plays—'The Adventures of Pinocchio,' 'Wandering Tales of Garbage,' 'A Ray of Light Above Apples,' 'MOUTH,' and 'Poppu's Adventure'—were performed. The shows were met with overwhelming attendance and rave reviews.
Bringing this comprehensive art form of children's drama to the public stage is also a reflection of Futian District's contemplation and practice of research and learning education, as well as 'holistic education.' Building a bridge for communication between parents and children through drama, guiding children to harvest growth through self-inspiration and self-transformation. The curiosity and interests of the young ones are ignited through these plays, as they join the actors on stage in plucking the stars from the theatrical sky.
Nurturing and inheriting, igniting new vitality in traditional culture
Excellent Chinese traditional culture is the spiritual lifeline of the Chinese nation, a vital source of nurturing socialist core values, and a solid foundation for us to stand firm amidst the surging waves of world culture. Futian, as the central district of Shenzhen and its 'urban reception room', not only fosters individuals with an international perspective but also nurtures a strong connection to Chinese traditional culture. Embracing the outstanding characteristics of Chinese traditional culture, Futian shapes a new generation of confident and culturally aware youth.
During the 19 events of the 'Play through Summer' research and learning activities, each base delved into its thematic uniqueness, offering children a feast of national culture. At the drama base, children donned traditional Chinese clothing for the 'National Style and Elegance: Han and Tang Dynasty Traditional Culture Experience,' delving into the lives of the Han and Tang dynasties through activities like 'Tea and Plays,' 'Han Palace Fans,' 'Han Etiquette,' and a 'Han Clothing Show.' In the art base, children visited and created prints, resonating with the aesthetics of the past across time and space. At the Intangible Cultural Heritage base, they played traditional instruments, experiencing the charm of intangible cultural heritage through playing, plucking, blowing, and singing. At the dance base, they explored the allure of ethnic dances, embodying the vibrant, healthy, and dynamic spirit of loving their country. At the music base, they explored the philosophical aspects of life, relationships with others, society, and nature.
A decade nurtures trees, a century nurtures individuals. Traditional culture sown in the hearts of Futian's students, nurtured by the rain and sunshine of research and learning art, helps them actively become inheritors of Chinese traditional culture and guardians of its enduring vitality, safeguarding the continuous and surging river of Chinese traditional culture.
Art education and physical education cultivate a new generation of comprehensive Futian youth
Futian students like Wang Xinyu who achieved victory against all odds in law tennis, Ou Yushan who clinched championships in provincial and national games for gymnastics, and members of the Shenzhen Mingde Experimental School (Group) skipping rope team who secured gold medals at the World Jump Rope Championships... In just a few months, the sports arena in Futian has emerged strongly on the global sports stage, closely linked to Futian District's high-quality advancement of the integration of sports and education, establishing itself as a model for 'sports and education integration'.
To foster a high-quality environment for sports, this year's 'Learn through Summer' summer camp, in addition to offering artistic training courses in fields like fine arts, drama, and dance, continues to provide sports training. Apart from traditional courses such as swimming, table tennis, and jump rope, Futian District introduces Olympic sports like handball, tennis, and interactive robots, while also collaborating with schools to ensure that every student in Futian acquires proficiency in 1-2 sports as part of their education goals.
Comprehensive development in sports and arts is the essence of 'Futian's nurturing.' Standing at the forefront of the era, Futian students, with a broad vision and immense potential, are scripting their own splendid lives and embracing the vibrant future.
Education leads to national prosperity, strong education leads to a strong nation. Since its inception, the Futian District Public Cultural Research Base has yielded fruitful results in various public educational services, offering high-quality cultural education services to Futian's youth through innovative research methods, enriching their extracurricular cultural, artistic, and healthy lives, and continually meeting their spiritual and cultural needs. On the path to constructing a high-quality and balanced basic public educational service system, Futian District takes a pioneering step, actively leading the new trend in public cultural education services, diligently promoting high-quality and balanced public educational services that cover the entire populace.

Optimizing Services for Shenzhen's Financial Institutions to Facilitate Cross-Border Consumption for Hong Kong Residents.
Recently, the trend of Hong Kong residents traveling to Shenzhen for consumption has been on the rise, leading to a continuous growth in demand for financial services in Shenzhen. Various financial institutions have responded by setting up additional service counters, increasing staff, optimizing services, and strengthening guidance to meet the needs of local and Hong Kong customers. On the 20th, reporters observed at multiple bank branches in the People's South Road commercial district of Luohu District that the order at each branch was well-maintained, and all business operations were being conducted smoothly. Bank officials stated that they will further leverage the advantages of cross-border cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong to provide convenient financial services for residents of both cities.
In the lobby of the Shenzhen Branch of the Bank of China, there were many Hong Kong residents conducting transactions. Chief Reporter of Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, Yang Shaokun
The surge in consumption by Hong Kong residents traveling to Shenzhen has triggered a strong demand for financial services. On the afternoon of the 20th, reporters observed at a state-owned bank branch in Shenzhen that there were more people coming to conduct transactions, including a considerable number of Hong Kong residents. Everyone either stood in line or sat in the waiting area, awaiting their turn. The entire lobby was orderly and relatively quiet. Customers conducting transactions were provided with dedicated services, ensuring efficiency and convenience.
"Since the beginning of this year, the number of Hong Kong customers conducting transactions at the bank has significantly increased, with the number of Hong Kong customers received at the border branches exceeding 400 per day during peak periods." Bank staff informed reporters that to meet the financial service needs of Hong Kong residents, the bank has set up dedicated counters during peak periods, increased staff, and strengthened on-site guidance, striving to meet the demand with high efficiency and quality service. After undergoing the test of peak periods and a period of adaptation, the speed of transactions at the bank has improved, and currently, it can provide a good experience for various transactions for customers from Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
The staff also informed reporters that for Hong Kong residents who handle bank card transactions, due to the impact of the earlier epidemic, many bank cards need to be reactivated, which may involve relatively complicated procedures. However, if the transaction involves handling cash, it is relatively simple, and can be done at the counter or through ATMs.
Ordered queues in front of ATMs
Subsequently, reporters saw in locations such as the train station and Luohu Commercial City that there were many Hong Kong customers conducting transactions at ATMs on the exterior walls of some bank branches. Everyone was standing in an orderly queue, preparing to withdraw cash for consumption in Shenzhen. Some queues in front of certain ATMs were relatively long, with about seven or eight people in line. Some people took slightly longer to complete their transactions due to being unfamiliar with the ATM operation.
Mr. Xiao, a Hong Kong resident who successfully withdrew 3,000 yuan in cash from an ATM, told reporters that most Hong Kong people are not yet familiar with WeChat Pay, and generally prefer to use cash for consumption in Shenzhen. Therefore, they would look for bank branches or ATMs to withdraw cash immediately after crossing the border. "Tonight, I plan to go shopping and have supper in Shenzhen."
"Since the full resumption of normal customs clearance at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong land border, the financial service demands of Hong Kong customers have been released in large numbers, with many Hong Kong residents coming to Shenzhen banks to handle account functions restoration, activation, and other services. The process of handling such services is relatively lengthy, and during peak periods, this has exerted certain pressures on banks near the border," explained the relevant person in charge of the Shenzhen Center Branch of the People's Bank of China.
It is reported that to further improve the service experience for in-store customers, banks have adopted methods such as setting up service counters at branches to improve efficiency. At the same time, they have improved the waiting experience by providing waiting seats, refreshments, and other services. Currently, the number of Hong Kong customers handling transactions at banks is gradually decreasing, and service pressures are easing.
Advance reservations required for large cash withdrawals
In response to the financial demands triggered by Hong Kong residents traveling to Shenzhen for consumption, the relevant Shenzhen authorities specifically reminded that in accordance with the relevant regulations on large cash management issued by the People's Bank of China, Shenzhen banks have implemented a reservation mechanism for handling large cash withdrawals. For corporate accounts, the starting point is 500,000 yuan, and for personal accounts, it is 200,000 yuan. If the transaction exceeds these amounts, both Hong Kong and mainland residents need to make advance reservations.
To meet the cash service needs of Hong Kong customers, banks have taken measures such as increasing the cash reserve at border branches and adding cash equipment at border branches. At the same time, for Hong Kong and Macau residents' cross-border RMB remittance and cross-border RMB remittance transactions, Shenzhen banks also open individual RMB bank settlement accounts for Hong Kong and Macau residents according to relevant regulatory requirements, which can receive same-name account remittances of up to 80,000 yuan per person per day from Hong Kong and Macau residents.

It is worth mentioning that the last time a Chinese player defeated a South Korean player in a world championship final was in November 2020 at the 25th Samsung Cup, where Ke Jie defeated Shin Jin-seo 2-0 to win the championship.
