He Xuan: You won't believe who just came up here for the third time.
Hua Cheng: ........Don't joke about that.
He Xuan: I'm not, I swear! And he broke a bunch of stuff on his way in.
Hua Cheng: What.
He Xuan: Um, yeah, you know his two babies that you hate? He hit one with a giant bell and smashed the other one's palace.
Hua Cheng: I am definitely in the right religion.

Idk why but I like princely/spoiled Xie Lian. I think it's because it shows how safe and loved he feels. That even at his brattiest Hua Cheng still loves and adores him. He doesn't make a habit of it even though he knows he could. It's him learning how to be a little selfish again to not put himself last. Hua Cheng loves it, takes pride that his god feels that safe with him. He like Xie Lian is also learning how to be selfish. Though it would take years for their old habitat to fade they are with each other every step of the way and that's one of the reasons why I love hualian so much.

Since the OP made their post unrebloggable (and blocked me. Both actions they are well in with their right to do)
I'm going to make my response it's own post because I think the point is important
-
As someone who is autistic and has BPD and CPTSD and loads of trauma yes you sometimes need to change how you interact with others to keep people around
When I was 13 I hit the few friends I had when I was angry
I had to change that in order to keep those friendships
When I was in my early 20s if I was losing an disagreement with my husband I would threaten to kill myself. My husband told me it hurt him and was cruel and manipulative behaviour, because it was.
So I worked hard to change that to keep my relationship
It's easy to say "I shouldn't have to change for others" and that's true to an extent. You shouldn't change your interests or passions or dim your light. And you should have space to be imperfect and flawed and not have to pretend your ugly bits aren't real. But if something you are doing it causing other people harm you kinda need to change that.
That's called "living in a society"
People adapt to each other and make space for each other in their lives. You adapt to them and they adapt to you
You start being more diligent about throwing away the empty toilet roll because it really bothers them. They start warning you before they run the blender because you hate loud noises
I stopped threatening to kill myself because I was mad I was losing an argument and my husband stopped being so vocally judgemental amount media he personally dislikes
There is a certain type of person who heard the phrase "your emotions are valid" and took that to mean "my emotional reactions and my behaviour are always objectively correct because my emotions are valid and if you have an emotional response or react to what I'm doing negatively then you are wrong and you can't be hurt because my emotions are valid"
And that's a recipe for disaster
Your emotions are valid to feel. They are how you feel and there are reasons you feel the way you do
However, your reactions and behaviour are something you can learn to control and can be irrational
We live in a society and we as people change each other as we interact and that isn't necessarily a bad thing

my favorite thing to think about with bingyuan is bingge having a fetishistic obsession with shen yuan's imperfection.
bingge's wives and every person he's held more than one conversation with are perfect. they're sickeningly pretty, dizzyingly pretty, the sort of pretty celebrities need an hour in a makeup chair and 100k in surgery to achieve.
but shen yuan is so... different. his teeth are adorably crooked, he sneezes in a way that's really only endearing to bingge, he snores and drools on binghe's chest in his sleep. he sweats, it tastes salty on his tongue and makes shen yuan smell acrid and disgusting after it cools on his skin, lingers on binghe's hands after touching him, and binghe is obsessed. every bit of shen yuan that makes him human is what makes binghe rabidly horny.

about the very last point that novel!shen qingqiu is how he sees himself but donghua!shen qingqiu is how others see him this perspective completely aligns and makes sense because in the novel and only pov we have is from sqq himself and we all know that he’s an incredibly unreliable narrator so of course he would portray himself to the reader as older and more mature and we have no other predictive that tells us otherwise whereas in the donghua we are watching as a third party granted still entirely centered around sqq but all of his interactions and mannerisms aren’t colored by his perspective so we get a more accurate representation of him
i find this very similar to the heaven officials blessing novel and donghua on the idea of how obvious hua cheng’s simping is (if you haven’t watched/read heaven officials blessing i highly recommend it) where in the novel it’s not as obvious because the novel is in xie lian’s pov and he is both oblivious to hua cheng’s feeling and a fucking liar but in the donghua we can see hua cheng gay panic about holding xie lian’s hand in real time
Continuing my watch the Scum Villain donghua:
I now get the joke about "Liu Qingge was a victim" after Shen Qingqiu flirts with him in the Lingxi caves. I mean, obvs SQQ didn't think that was what he was doing, but he was fanboying about getting to meet the Bai Zhan War God as well as full of relief that Liu Qingge's murder didn't have to happen, so his dialogue came out VERY bubbly. Poor Liu Qingge.
There's a pretty great scene after the demon invasion, when Shen Qingqiu has just been poisoned, where Yue Qingyuan and Mu Qingfang are reprising "Agony" as they both blame themselves for Shen Qingqiu getting hurt, while he stresses and tries to get them both to chill lmao. Shen Qingqiu is so touched that his martial brothers care about him that he wonders how the Original Goods could possibly not cherish them! Aw.
Liu Qingge is the first (and apparently only) one to clock that Shen Qingqiu might not be the OG, simply because SQQ is too nice now! And Shen Qingqiu deflects by… talking about Luo Binghe? You are not beating the Binghe Brainrot allegations, Shen Yuan.

physically cannot choose
am neurodivergent but when i’m wearing close-toed shoes, socks are a MUST but they have to be on correctly (seam aligned across the top)
but
if i am not wearing shoes the socks come right off (don’t like the feeling of fabric on my feet rubbing against other fabric) and also no socks is almost grounding in a world filled with of sensory hell
however
that pet comes with the exception of if i am in a space that is not my own. if i’m at a friends house or something and my shoes come off (because they do) my socks stay on

The biggest tragedy of Luo Binghe’s life is that he’s a bottom who’s being forced to top because his wife is a pillow princess and still subconsciously influenced by the lies written by that hamster twink.

in this read-through of mdzs, i keep thinking about the parallel that’s drawn between the relationships between Wei Wuxian & Jiang Cheng and Xiao Xingchen & Song Lan.
we have the very close brotherly bond, broken by a dispute where one of them (JC/SL) is seriously hurt and blames the other. WWX and XXC then give up a vital part of themselves (golden core and eyes) to repay what they perceive as their debt to the other. this ends up leading them on a dark path where they rely on other powers (XXC’s sword and WWX necromancy) to make up for what they lost in the sacrifice, which eventually causes them to kill innocent people, suffer greatly, and die of (arguably in WWX’s case) suicide. this is a very broad brush strokes parallel of course, and the situations aren’t identical but still similar enough to be clearly intentional.
after XXC dies, SL decides to roam the world fighting evil alongside his friend’s soul, intending to heal it and tell him that it wasn’t his fault.
after WWX dies, JC tries to hunt down his soul to destroy it completely because everything is his fault.
disclaimer: i’m not a JC hater. i think he’s a brilliantly complex and morally grey character. i think ppl who think he’s done nothing wrong are equally as wrong as the ones who think he’s an irredeemable piece of shit. that’s not the point and this post isn’t about him.
but this difference in an otherwise incredibly similar narrative is striking! and it’s jarring that WWX actually gets the happier ending.
which brings me (surprise surprise) to Lan Wangji and the blindfold scene. and my connection here isn’t as solid as i’d like it to be so i may need to think it over some more, but i do think there’s a connection, bc the only other time we encounter blindfolds* are with the character of XXC. and if we draw the line between WWX and XXC from the above, the blindfold scene during the hunting party seems to reach forward in time to connect us back to this. the kiss that Lan Wangji feels incredibly guilty about, that he likely perceives as a violation, a loss of integrity and self control, which echoes some of the dark-path-experiences of the above, but that also kinda creates this lifeline from the doomed narrative of an irreparable damage of brotherhood to a new connection between LWJ and WWX, which blossoms here and leads LWJ to try desperately to prevent WWX from going down the dark path to begin with. it has a fairy-tale-like quality to it, like the brave knight who kisses the sleeping princess to save her. but bc it’s all entangled in the above relationships, and it’s technically already too late, the saving doesn’t happen until after WWX comes back and LWJ has learned how to save him, not by stopping him but by trusting, supporting, and protecting him.
this is all rambly, run-on, and incoherent but there’s something there, i swear it!!

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:
1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.
2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.
3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.
4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.
We look forward to welcoming you all and seeing the fantastic works you create. Happy writing!
