at the age of 17, most people are told that they’ll meet their soulmate soon if they don’t know them yet. yes, soulmate. and it’s not just to look at them and suddenly know it’s your other half, no. it’s a little more complex. you feel it, you slowly develop feelings even if you don’t want to. that’s just the way it is but no one tells you who your soulmates is, they just tell you around what time they might come. your mom, when you turned 17, sent you to a psychic so that you could know about your soulmate. it is kind of a tradition to a whole population and it works every time. they told you you’d meet your soulmate within 2 months since your 17th birthday and you never actually thought about it much because you didn’t care about relationships.

you were usually very organized within your stuff and the things you do. you take notes of everything in class, deliver your homeworks early, keep your room always clean... today though seemed that everything wasn’t going the way they normally would. you woke up late, didn’t have time to fix your clothes, nor hair, nor face and barely ate breakfast. you already hated this day. you had to take the next bus to school instead of the one you usually take and it was gonna hold you back even more but you couldn’t just walk so you just let the fact that you’re already late, sink in and that you couldn’t do anything about it. you sat on the bus stop bench putting your backpack on the sit beside you, staring somewhere. you hated yourself even more now that you realized you didn’t set your alarm the night before and you were so immersed in your own thoughts that you didn’t even notice the presence of another human being sitting two butts away from you.

when the bus arrived, the tall blonde male got up from his seat and walked towards it. ‘when did he get here???’ you asked yourself. shrugging, you got in the bus sitting on the seat in front of him and let your head rest on the mirror continuing to daze off on thoughts and you quickly fell asleep.

“um.... hi? wake up... hey.” someone poked you lightly. you slowly opened your eyes and looked at the cute guy from before sitting beside you. “sorry to wake you but this is our stop.” he says.

you yawn a little while nodding then your eyes widen, “oh my god!” you quickly get up grabbing your stuff and get out of the bus with the boy following you.

“hey, are you okay?” he asks. you low your pace and turn to face him.

“yes, i’m so sorry for being so rude. thank you for waking me up. i’d have gone somewhere else if it wasn’t for you.” you giggle. he smiles.

“no problem. i’m minghao by the way.” he says, still with a pretty smile.

“i’m y/n.” you do the same.

“have we seen each other before? i feel like i‘ve met you somewhere.” you shrug while shaking your head.

“don’t remember but i think i’d remember you if we did.” you blantly says completely regretting it later. damn pretty boy gonna be scared be cool, you thought.

he chuckles lightly before saying “i think i’d remember you too.”

“wait are you the new student everyone was talking about? justin huang? blonde, tall, good-looking and may i mention incredibly tall.” he laughs once again.

“yes, people call me justin too. good looking? not so much.” you roll your eyes at his remark.

“too humble.” he smiles more widely which makes his cheeks go a little more up and it’s adorable. “how old are you?” you ask.

“16, you?” he says, you both still walking towards class.

“i just turned 17.” you murmured, feeling odd. a weird feeling grew within you that made you almost instantly get closer to justin’s figure.

“oh, so you’re a junior?” he looks at you briefly. you nod. “me too! what class do you have right now?”

you look at the watch on your wrist, “um.... physics? i guess...”

“oh,” he grabs a piece of paper in his pocket and analyze it before continuing. “i have biology.” he makes a sad face.

“the teacher’s nice, you’ll like her.” you stopped on your track and looked at him. “well i go this way, you go that way and turn left twice and the first room number 216 is biology.”

“thank you, y/n, i was actually about to ask you that. you’re my lifesaver.” he smiled brightly looking down. you looked up doing the same thing, feeling thankful that he was very kind.

“you’re welcome. see you, justin.” you wave good bye and part ways.

he was so cute and you wondered what was that feeling you felt while talking to him.

that weird feeling started creeping onto you at lunch break as soon as justin entered the cafeteria. you asked yourself if he was your soulmate. too random, yes. but what if.

he seemed lonely and shy when he grabbed his lunch taking a look around to find a place to sit. and so you stretched your hand out a bit telling him to come sit by your table along with your friends. he smiled walking towards you and you felt your heart do a backflip at the image.

“hi.” he says sitting beside you. everyone in the table looks at him.

“guys, this is justin, the new guy. justin, this is everybody.” you say. they all greet him and continue on the conversation they were having. “so hao, when’s your birthday?”

“in 2 months, why?” he asks confused. you shrugged. he’ll know about his soulmate in 2 months, not a big deal right? you could wait. you two then just engaged on an interesting chat. you find more about him as time passes and he finds more about you too.

it’s been a while since you’ve met justin, you became really good friends. when test week started he needed to catch up on a lot of things so you and your friends decided to help him. you’ve been meeting up, studying all together and it has surprisingly been helping him. school ended and you met justin at the entrance, looking around for your friends.

“hi...” you say kindly. “it’s just you and me today, they have 3 more periods and extra classes on wednesdays.” you pouted. justin smiled. “is that okay with you?”

“completely, more than okay. yeah.” he messed up his words, a bit shy and you giggled. “so let’s go.”

you two entered your house and you prayed to all gods that your mom wasn’t home so you wouldn’t have to answer all her questions about him being your boyfriend and such.

and thankfully she wasn’t.

you motioned for him to follow you up to your room and when you got there, you put your backpack on a chair and so did he.

“should we eat before doing anything or you just wanna hop on...,” you took a while to remember what test you had next. “history? is it history?” you ask. he nods silently standing awkwardly on your room and you notice it. “are you uncomfortable that it’s just us today? i’m really sorry-“ he stops you from saying anything.

“no! it’s just... i’ve never been in a girl’s room before.” he shyly interrupts you.

“oh. no worries then, we can study in the living room. does that sound okay?” he nods quickly. you go down the stairs back to the living room, getting comfortable to start studying. you excuse yourself to go grab something to eat for the both of you.

when you come back, you find him reading your notes and it’s just so cute. he pulls his hair back and pouts a little and his lips get a bit too full. you smile. in 2 months you managed to develop a crush on this guy something you never cared about your whole life. it was so new but you enjoyed the feeling. the only thing worrying you was the he may not be your soulmate but you still managed to like him. what if he likes another person? what if he’s not actually your soulmate?

“should we start?” you sit beside him.

hours pass until you’re finally done with everything. he’s got nothing to worry about with history since he’s pretty good and you’re glad about that. “thank god, my butt is a square now.” you laugh.

“it’s still 5pm.” you comment looking at your watch then the date surprises you quite randomly. “hey! your birthday is this weekend right?” you ask. he nods lightly.

“so um...” suddenly the air feels a bit awkward.

the constant feeling of wanting to get closer to him started creeping into you again and you just decided to vent about it to him.

“i kinda need to tell you something but i don’t want you to be creeped about it...” his head turns a little to the side and his expression is a little confused. you find it cute. “so i think you know about that soulmate kind of thing?” he nods.

“when we turn 17, our family obliges us to go to a pshycic and everything...” he explains a little while nodding.

“yeah. so, when i turned 17 i went to a pshycic and she told me my soulmate would come around between 2 months since my birthday and... exactly two months after my birthday you showed up...” you take your time trying to explain things to him.

his heart beats faster now that he’s associating things but he tries to keep his cool and let you finish.

“and i know i can’t exactly know who he is and everything but... in these past couple of months i developed a little thing for you...” you sighed. ugh, this is so hard. “anyways, i just thought you should know and i’ll probably get turned down but it doesn’t really matter i just wanted to let you know, really.”

justin licks his lips out of nervousness and tries to form something on his mind to say to you but he just sticks with the original thing.

“i like you too...” he says. your eyes widen. “i’ve actually liked you since the first day but i couldn’t just confess, it was still quite new and i didn’t know if you felt that way as well.” you stare at him, a feeling of comfort embraces you. you get closer to him sitting face to face.

he likes that you make the first moves because he’s shy to do so. “i’ve always looked at you differently from the others since we’ve met, i’ve never liked anyone the way i like you.” he continues. you smile more widely.

“so the soulmate thing is true then....” you say.

“i believe yes.” he says, contemplating if he should make a move on you. then he does, his face getting closer to yours. “i still haven’t turned 17 but i think i already found my other half.” you put your arms around him while nodding.

“that’s good then.” you look in his eyes when your foreheads touch.

justin’s heart can’t bare the distance nor the feeling of wanting to feel your lips on him so he just leans in, kissing you.

it’s a gentle peck and it feels so right for the both of you.

when you lean back, still close to him, you smile biting your lips to contain your happiness.

“you’re so pretty.” he says, smiling at you.

“shut up, i’m gonna combust from happiness.” you joke expressing your feelings very well as he laughs in front of you.

“will you be my girlfriend, y/n?” he asks you, feeling a little more comfortable with the situation.

“yes, justin, i’ll be your girlfriend.” he puts his hand over his heart while making sounds squeezing his eyes shut.

“so cute!” he says. his heart hurts from how cute you are. you smile.

“stop!” you hide your face while laughing and he hugs you to bury you in his embrace.

“okay, okay, girlfriend.”

“okay, okay, boyfriend.”
