Oli nodded. “Exactly. Not just a coping mechanism, but Glanni had told me he was trying to save his own money up to get himself, Robbie, and Roberta out of that living situation. He never did manage to do that... I think he blames himself a lot for everything.”

Cheryl made a mental note to ask Glanni and Robbie’s mother about her apparently-super-fancy car. The word krona threw her for a moment before she remembered that Oil was probably Scandinavian. “Ah, okay, so the family was rich but the father held the purse-strings,” she said with a nod. “So Glanni was stealing kind of as a coping mechanism.” @icelandic-angel

“I went searching for him the next night, and found him kicking in a door to an abandoned shop. I joined him and we kinda went searching about the place to see what there was. I know it was love at first sight for me, but I don’t know if it was for him.”
“I’m sure it was for him too,” Cheryl replied with a smile. She was only guessing, of course, but it certainly seemed that way to me. “So you bonded over stealing things. I don’t know why that surprises me. I’ve never stolen anything…. but then I did have a fairly privileged upbringing.” @icelandic-angel

“It does! I don’t like the idea either.” Oli imagined what it’d be like to feed off of a soul, and didn’t like the thought of it. “I might be able to draw power from electronics… I have seen a couple other spirits do it. But I’ve also seen it go wrong and cause a blackout in town for a week.”
“Well, that’s not good either,” she replied glumly, making a face in frustration. “Granted, the only things I know about ghosts are the things those guys do on Ghost Adventures, you know—the Electronic Voice Phenomena, and the little Speak ‘N Spell machines that ghosts are supposed to be able to speak through.” @icelandic-angel

"I've heard the only way for a spirit such as myself to become stronger is to feed off of souls." He makes a grossed-out face. "I'm not sure I'd enjoy that. I know demons enjoy that -- and they also feed off of people's fear as well."

Her heart went out to Glanni. She hadn’t realized how much pain the man was carrying around inside him. “I promise I’ll keep an eye on him, Oli,” she told the younger man. “I’ll try to distract him, but it won’t be easy. And I’ll hide the booze and the drugs, at least the stuff I can find.”
