Hani's braids aren't even real braids?? Her hair is in a normal high ponytail except that they braided the extensions and the tail. There's no visible parts in her scalp that would indicate that she's wearing box braids or any other style. There was no need to censor her hair. If we're censoring all braids, why wasn't L.E's hair censored either lmao.

This manhua is very frustrating. 

I’m tired of it and will probably drop it because of the trainwreck it’s become.

I think that the main reason I’m so frustrated with this comic is because I k n o w that Elan is going to end up with Kyle bc that’s just the kind of webtoon it is, but it sucks because I enjoy reading about the characters and their individual backstories. All of them are solid characters on their on, but the author is just not that great at pairings. By all means, Elan shouldn’t end up with him. 

By all means, I wouldn’t want a weakened version of his character because Kyle on his own is really interesting to read about, (Not excusing the fact that he’s an awful person.) but the only way to keep this going is to not let the main leads end up together. 

My Thoughts on I Gave Birth to the Tyrant’s Child

Spoilers up to chapter 54!!

This is just a multitude of random things I thought about while reading, so please ignore if this entire post is very out of place. 

I LOVE the characters and the storyline (for the most part) to pieces. Each of them are really well developed and I enjoy reading about them. Elan, our protagonist who rose as one of the important knights when she was just a commoner, Kyle, the child who built himself up as an abused child assassin to an emperor, the founder of the shadow knights. Leonheart, a boy who pledged his allegiance to the king who killed his family just to protect himself and his sister, (and we still don’t know everything about him). All of the characters are so well written, but the romance aspects aren’t my favorite. 

I understand that it’s just the type of genre that this comic is, but I’m really hoping for the author to give Elan more of an even playing field. I know that she’s most likely ending up with the main lead, Kyle, but if they’re going to do that, then Elan should have more tricks up her sleeve. If the relationship is going to be toxic, make it toxic both ways. 

For one, I just think that if Kyle is able to peer into Elan’s head when she’s sleeping, then why can’t she do the same? She could have learned about the old magic from old books in the palace’s library or something. (And if there really is a “connection” between the two, then all the more reason for Elan to be able to have this ability.) And if it is genetic, then I wonder if the kids could do the same? I really hope the author dives more into that for the storyline/gives Elan more power to balance everything out. Just imagine the possibilities of Elan being able to do that, it would have been sick. I know that the two ending up together is inevitable, but to make their relationship a good relationship, they have to be on an even playing field. I do wonder if this is the author’s plan considering Kyle has the kids now, (and is making them royalty without Elan’s knowledge.) while Elan has to get them back. It feels like Elan is now in Kyle’s position while she was on the run. I really hope the author thinks about this so it plays out. 

We already know that Kyle is doing this to manipulate Elan. He clearly states this in the chapters. He does care for her, but it’s obviously from his obsessive nature due to his childhood/past. Despite growing genuine feelings for her, it wasn’t bred from healthy intentions. And trying to pair them together like it is just feels really off to me? With how it’s currently developing, I don’t see the pair working out. The only way to save the comic is to give it a bad/angsty ending. Elan doesn’t end up with Kyle, instead, she somehow ends up being sworn in as the empress, a position of royalty I don’t know how the rest would tie in, but in the end, Elan ends up on the side to try to kill Kyle, it ends up as an epic battle between the two, leaving Elan to become the empress. The conflicting feelings between wanting him dead and wanting him alive would also be great to add too. 

Another way to cause some great conflict would be if the twins actually got split up after the carriage scene. Elan manages to run off safely with Leanne, but Kyle ends up with Enril. Elan tries getting Enril back, but it’s difficult to do so with Kyle as the emperor. It becomes even more difficult to do so once Kyle officially adds Enril to the family tree like in chapter 54. I don’t think it would be possible for another timeskip, but if there was one, the twins would end up older with completely opposite mindsets, making it very difficult for our protagonist Elan to get her son back. Then what would happen? Not to mention, we have all of these other side characters with mostly unexplained storylines. It could have potentially tied into the story somehow, making it even more complex then the manga already feels. 

Not much of this doesn’t make sense I’m sure, but it’s just a lot of what I’m thinking. (What I hope goes on and potential plot points that they could have done.)  really want to see more of this play out. And I don’t know if I see Kyle and Elan being a good pairing at the end, so if she ends up with anyone, hopefully it would be Leonheart, but that’s if I see her ending up with anyone at all. I really just see Elan wanting what’s best for her children and herself. 

This also isn’t a bash on any of the characters, I love them all despite my frustrations. They’re all really well developed in my opinion, (aside from the romance) and I hope we get to see more backstories for everyone!
