Midnights is a wild ride of an album and I couldn’t be happier that my co pilot on this adventure was Jack Antonoff. He’s my friend for life (presumptuous I know but I stand by it) and we’ve been making music together for nearly a decade HOWEVER… this is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators. We’d been toying with ideas and had written a few things we loved, but Midnights actually really coalesced and flowed out of us when our partners (both actors) did a film together in Panama. Jack and I found ourselves back in New York, alone, recording every night, staying up late and exploring old memories and midnights past. We were so lucky to also work with our brilliant collaborators Sam Dew, Sounwave, Lana Del Rey, Jahaan Sweet, Keanu Beats, William Bowery, and Zoe Kravitz. Laura Sisk was our excellent engineer. The wonderful and wise Beth Garrabrant took the album photographs. Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now

Major Trigger Warnings: This story contains attempted suicide, mention of suicide and mention of intrusive thoughts, including some inspired by my own, if any of this triggers you, I strongly apologize.
I wrote this a week ago… and at first I couldn’t bring myself to post it because… well I wasn’t sure if I should but… National Suicide Prevention Month is coming up in September so and then school is starting and… sometimes that can be enough to stress anyone out and trigger feelings of anxiety and even depression so… I’m finally posting it for those reasons…
There is a LOT of triggers in this story, I can’t stress that enough it was hard to just write this but… I felt like I had to…
Inspired by feelings I’ve experienced before and sometimes still experience when my intrusive thoughts come back to haunt me.. I also wanted to dedicate this to anyone else who might have felt suicidal, or even just had intrusive thoughts like me, or anyone else who has thought about suicide. You are not alone and you ARE loved.
Again, there’s a lot of triggers in this story so… reader discretion is advised…

You had just come home from a long day of press tours and was looking to just relax.
Of course by relaxing you meant lying in bed, mindlessly scrolling through social media.
You opened YouTube and a video that came out just 2 hours ago quickly caught your attention.
'Y/N Y/L/N being a swiftie for almost 6 minutes straight (ft. The Marvel Cast)'
You smiled and clicked on it.
The familiar Wii theme song played and the words, 'Y/N Y/L/N being a swiftie for almost 6 minutes straight (ft. The Marvel Cast)' appeared on the screen.

The first clip was from a panel with the whole cast, you were sitting in between Tom Holland and Elizabeth Olsen.
"Hi," a girl with blue hair said shyly into the mic, "umm, my name is Kayla and my question is for Y/N,"
You nodded with a small smile.
"Go ahead Kayla, love your hair by the way," You said,
Kayla laughed shyly at the remark.
"I was wondering, just last week you shut down a sexist comment, but I wanted to know if you ever feel unsure about yourself or guilty afterwards," Kayla asked,
"ooh good question, I don't really feel guilty or unsure because honestly, if a man talks shit then I owe him nothing and I don't regret it one bit 'cause he had it coming," you said,
The audience cheered, getting the reference.
The Marvel cast looked extremely confused except Tom (Holland), Sebastian and Elizabeth who were used to your references.

The next couple of clips were from an interview with ELLE, more specifically song association.
"I'm really nervous, because I am not so great under pressure and right now my mind is completely blank," you said,

The word, 'blame' appeared on the screen.
"Oh I know this one," Y/N said excitedly, "Don't blame me, love made me crazy, if it doesn't you ain't doing it right,"
"Don't Blame Me, Taylor Swift, Reputation," Y/N said,

The next word was, 'king,'
"Oh god, why can I only think of Taylor Swift lyrics," You said, "you know what, screw it,"
"All the king's horses, all the king's men, couldn't put me together again," you sang, "The Archer, again Taylor Swift, Lover,"

The next word was, "shirt,"
"After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own, now you mail back my things and I walk home alone,"
"All Too Well, the ten minute version, Taylor's Version, of course," You said,
"When Taylor released the ten minute version, I was obsessed with it and played it on repeat and don't even get me started on the short film, had me in tears within the first 4 minutes,"

You, Anthony and Sebastian were in an interview, promoting your new movie.
"Y/N, I wanted to ask, what is your favourite Taylor Swift album?" the interviewer asked,
Y/N's face lit up immediately.
"Oh no, we're going to be here for hours," Sebastian said,
"screw hours, we're going to be here for days," Anthony said,
The video was sped up and after a couple of seconds, it was back to normal.
"But on the other hand, Red (Taylor's Version) is so amazing, don't even get me started on All Too Well the ten minute version," You rambled on,
The video sped up again.
“See, Evermore has some of my favourite songs, like Coney Island and Champagne Problems - I swear Taylor is going to make all the architects and engineers go out of business because of how well she constructs bridges - but on the other Folklore has ‘This is Me Trying’ and ‘Mirrorball’ which I could really relate to during my time in university,” you explained,
"Honestly though, I think we need to go over it again,"
The video sped up again.
“But Speak Now was self-written when she was nineteen, nineteen,” Y/N said, “Did you know that Taylor Swift has written 54 songs by herself? That is so amazing, let’s not even get started on the fact that she hasn’t released a single song that she hasn’t had some part in,” you said,
At this point, Anthony and Sebastian just looked so done.
“But Lover. Lover warmed my cold heart, like the line ‘I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings’? I bought out a store of origami paper so I could learn how to make them,” You said,
“That’s true, she handed them out on set,” Sebastian said,
“I still have the ones she gave me, the kids do too,”

The next clip was from an interview where you played with puppies.
“Oh my god, this is like a cuteness overload, I can’t even deal with this,” You gushed, playing with a small golden retriever that made it’s way towards you,
‘Who - in your opinion - is the best songwriter’
“Definitely Taylor, absolutely no question there,” You said, “the line, ‘you call me up again, just to break me like a promise’ is just,” you clutched your heart dramatically, “Like who writes that? Like who hurt her?”
“Just kidding,” You said, staring down at the puppies, “I know it was Jake Gyllenhaal,”

The next clip was an instagram live, filmed by none other than Tom Holland.
“Darling?” Tom asked behind the camera,
“Hmm?” You asked, lying on the couch with your cat (Santana, after Santana Lopez from Glee) on your chest,
“Can you finish the lyrics of these songs?” Tom asked,
“I can try,” You said, turning to face him,
“I stay up too late-“ Tom sang, off tune,
“Got nothing on my brain, at least that’s what people say, mm, mm,” You sang immediately, now sat up properly,
“See, that’s why you’re the singer,” Tom said jokingly, “one for the money, two for the show-“
“I never was ready, so I watched you go,” you sang,

“What is one thing that annoys you?” the interviewer asked you,
“Probably when people think that the only songs Taylor writes are like ‘Shake it off,” or ‘You Belong With Me’ - no hate to any of those songs by the way, they are absolutely iconic - when she’s written songs like ‘Right Where You Left Me’ or ‘Hoax’ - which is criminally underrated - or ‘Champagne Problems’ or ‘Cowboy Like Me’… honestly the list could go on,” you said, going on many tangents,
“What is one of your mottos in life?” They asked,
“swiftie first, human second” you answered,

“Besides people in your marvel cast, who are your closest friends?”
“I’d say Sadie Sink, Gigi Hadid, Zendaya - does that count? She was one of my co-stars in Marvel once - Conan Gray, Olivia Rodrigo…” You said, “I love all of my friends, it’s way too hard to choose,”
“I love that they tolerate me talking about Taylor Swift, because honestly, ‘Hoax’ had me sobbing on the floor,” you said, “Especially Olivia and Conan,”

It was a clip from your TikTok, the you, conan and Olivia were in front of the camera, belting out the lyrics of All Too Well (10 minute version) (Taylor’s Version).
“I’ll get older but your lover’s stay my age!” You all yelled,
They showed a screenshot of Taylor’s comment: “My children 🥺”

The next clip was a video from your instagram from when Evermore had just come out, you were singing a cover of Champagne Problems.
“Seriously, go stream Evermore literally anywhere, I don’t even care if you get rid of my album from your playlist if it means making space in your playlist,” You said after you finished the song,

“I actually already pre-ordered all her vinyls, so if you haven’t yet, you definitely should,” You said, looking into the camera.

“I think it was either ‘Picture to Burn’ or ‘Our Song,’” You said, “i swear, ‘taylor swift debut’ and ‘Fearless’ made me want love, and then ‘Red’ made me think love didn’t exist, ‘1989’ just made me forget about it and then ‘Reputation’ and ‘Lover’ made me think it did again and then ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore came out, and now I’m just complexed,”

10 things to love about atsumu
he's always so carefree. atsumu never seems to take anything seriously, even laughing at the letter "p" once because it was a homonym to "pee".
he's comforting to be around. every time you were around him, you found yourself relaxing in his presence. you could never feel uncomfortable around him.
he embraces his inner child. atsumu acts like an overgrown sixth grader, always excited about the little things. he did have a dirty mind, but his personality was (mostly) pure.
his caring nature. atsumu never does anything to intentionally hurt someone, and he doesn't see the point in hating or holding a grudge against someone. "you'll forget about it eventually, so it's not such a big deal now".
he's always thinking ahead. atsumu never limits himself by thinking about the past, choosing instead to focus on what he can do in the moment to prepare for the future.
he's perceptive. atsumu always noticed when something was off, and although he never pointed it out directly, he would go out of his way to comfort you and cheer you up.
he's respectful. never in your life have you heard atsumu say an insensitive thing. never. he's always held a lot of respect and love in his heart for everyone—unless they do something to piss him off (which isn't easy).
everyone loves him. atsumu is the life of the party: he's the definition of a social butterfly and has people around him at all times. old ladies love him, moms swoon over him in the grocery store, people are constantly asking him for his number, and the children on the playground always want to play with him.
his laughter is contagious. there is never a dull moment when you're with atsumu. his sense of humor is top tier, and he never fails to make you laugh until your stomach hurts and tears are leaking out of your eyes.
he always knows what to say. that one night you impulsively confessed your deepest secret to atsumu? he was there with you the entire night, offering words of encouragement and comfort. "you're not disgusting. I find you to be the most admirable person I know."

Atsumu would be that classmate who would steal your seat every class. It would be an accident the first time — he missed the first class and, therefore, didn’t know he sat in your seat. But, after sending him a small glare, he’d make it his mission to steal your seat every class period from there on out.
He’d smirk and snicker every time you got to class, ignoring the fact that he almost tripped over his own two feet trying to leave home to get to class before you.
He would also ignore the small crush he had on you until the last week of class, in which he would then get to class after you for the first time ever, then proceed to sit next to you instead of steal your seat.

The Morning After I Killed Myself
The morning after I killed myself, I woke up.
I made myself breakfast in bed. I added salt and pepper to my eggs and used my toast for a cheese and bacon sandwich. I squeezed a grapefruit into a juice glass. I scraped the ashes from the frying pan and rinsed the butter off the counter. I washed the dishes and folded the towels.
The morning after I killed myself, I fell in love. Not with the boy down the street or the middle school principal. Not with the everyday jogger or the grocer who always left the avocados out of the bag. I fell in love with my mother and the way she sat on the floor of my room holding each rock from my collection in her palms until they grew dark with sweat. I fell in love with my father down at the river as he placed my note into a bottle and sent it into the current. With my brother who once believed in unicorns but who now sat in his desk at school trying desperately to believe I still existed.
The morning after I killed myself, I walked the dog. I watched the way her tail twitched when a bird flew by or how her pace quickened at the sight of a cat. I saw the empty space in her eyes when she reached a stick and turned around to greet me so we could play catch but saw nothing but sky in my place. I stood by as strangers stroked her muzzle and she wilted beneath their touch like she did once for mine.
The morning after I killed myself, I went back to the neighbors’ yard where I left my footprints in concrete as a two year old and examined how they were already fading. I picked a few daylilies and pulled a few weeds and watched the elderly woman through her window as she read the paper with the news of my death. I saw her husband spit tobacco into the kitchen sink and bring her her daily medication.
The morning after I killed myself, I watched the sun come up. Each orange tree opened like a hand and the kid down the street pointed out a single red cloud to his mother.
The morning after I killed myself, I went back to that body in the morgue and tried to talk some sense into her. I told her about the avocados and the stepping stones, the river and her parents. I told her about the sunsets and the dog and the beach.
The morning after I killed myself, I tried to unkill myself, but couldn’t finish what I started.
