How to watch INFINITY TRAIN (and a whole bunch of other great shows, movies, and anime) on HBO Max OUTSIDE OF THE US
This is a somewhat complicated process so this going to be quite a long post, but bear with me folks. (Intercut with gifs for us with poor attention span.)
Also American pals, I’d appreciate if you gave this a look as well as we could use your assistance.
Tumblr media
I’m no anti-piracy advocate but with Infinity Train in danger of cancellation us fans outside of the US have been clamouring for a way to support the show. Getting access to HBO Max hasn’t been easy, but I’ve finally managed it! Here’s how I did;
HBO Max is region-locked outside of America so normally you can’t access even the site. In order to bypass this you need a VPN with a proxy. Now, VPNs and the actual usefulness of the service they advertise is a bit of a thorny subject that I don’t claim to be an expert in, but it is the most convenient option for accessing region-locked content. I will note that I attempted to access HBO Max with all major trusted free web proxies, and none worked.
Tumblr media
Now, VPNs cost money, but fortunately many of them are offering discounts and special offers through YouTube sponsorships. The one I use is Surfshark, which is often considered the most affordable good VPN out there. For a deal of €1.5 per month for 24 months + 3 free months, with a 30 day money back guarantee, check out this video and follow the link in the description. Surfshark is also available on unlimited devices, so you can share it if you wish.
Sidenote; In case you were wondering, VPNs are perfectly legal, so you don’t have to worry about that.
Tumblr media
Once you have the VPN you just have to connect to a region in the US. You may have to reload the site or close the window and enter again in order for it to work. I have not tried everything that does and does not work, but in order to get access to HBO Max I had to download Surfshark for Windows. To be totally sure I also have the Surfshark Chrome extension, with both connected to the same area. With this you can get access to HBO Max as well as other region-locked sites, articles, YouTube videos etc., so don’t feel like you’re just throwing your money away for just the one thing.
Tumblr media
Now that you’ve gotten access to HBO Max comes the problem that the site probably won’t accept your credit card. That is because they only accept payments from banks established in the US. Here comes the trickiest part, and the part where you American pals come in; you need someone in the US to buy a card for an online purchase. If you have a friend or aquaintance in the US, ask them for help. If you live in the US and are willing to lend a hand, we would be very grateful. I was graciously helped by @shadowthewerehog, so I’ll let them explain it better:
The card was basically a gift card you can use like a debit card. I’m not sure where else they sell them but grocery stores have them. And I think they can be both visa or master cards. They’ll have like 25-500 as the option and you put what amount you want on it plus the fee. The one I bought is a one time thing and I don’t think it’s reloadable. Also I believe with the card you’ve got to register it with a name and address to do online purchases
Not all parts of the US have the same grocery chains but the place I bought mine was Kroger. I’m pretty sure you can also get them at Walmart and Target tho and they have those all over the US
Tumblr media
The fee for the card itself was $5, so that’s unfortunately another extra little expense for us non-americans. But they were able to buy a card and register an HBO Max account using a name and an email adress I sent them, they sent me the password and I was able to log in, and I sent them the money for the card and the subscription via PayPal. And Voilà! Obviously this requires a bit of trust in the handling of money and personal information, so discretion advised.
Now, without trying to sound too much like a salesperson, with HBO Max you now have full access to stuff like;
Cartoon Network
Adventure Time
Adventure Time: Distant Lands
The Amazing World of Gumball
Ben 10
Craig of the Creek
Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends
Infinity Train
Mao Mao, Heroes of Pure Heart
Over the Garden Wall
Regular Show
Steven Universe
Teen Titans
We Bare Bears
(Distant Lands and Infinity Train are under the Originals tab, confusingly.)
Tumblr media
DC Productions
Batman
Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn
Doom Patrol
Harley Quinn
Joker
Shazam!
Supergirl
Superman
V for Vendetta
Watchmen
Wonder Woman
Tumblr media
Adult Swim
The Boondocks
Primal
Harvey Birdman
Metalocalypse
Rick and Morty
Samurai Jack
Tumblr media
Studio Ghibli
With the exception of Grave of the Fireflies, every feature film + Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Tumblr media
Crunchyroll
A limited collection including:
Death Note
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Inuyasha
Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
Kill la Kill
Konosuba
Mob Psycho 100
Madoka Magica
Re:ZERO
Tower of God
Tumblr media
And this plus a library of movies and series from classic to modern
It’s a shame that us non-americans should have to jump through so many hoops in order to support the things we like on a platform that’s supposed to increase accessibility, but i hope I have at least made some of you consider giving it a shot. Now HBO Max will be made available worldwide eventually, but the expected release dates are very vague if not non-existent. Me personally, I really don’t want Infinity Train to get cancelled so I’m putting some extra money out there.
If you’ve got questions or things to add, please do.
Thanks again to @shadowthewerehog for helping me out.
Good luck!

I've been attempting to get access to HBO Max outside of America. Using a VPN with a proxy gets me onto the website, but in order to even begin a free trial the site wants your card information, and it doesn't accept payments from banks not established in the US.
I'm thinking it might be possible if you have an American acquaintance who can lend you their card information or even their HBO Max account, but I'm not certain. It's not an option for me in any case, as I don't know anyone in America, but maybe someone else can give it a shot?
I'm not an anti-piracy advocate, but I know that there are plenty of people who would much rather stream content legally, if for no other reason than in order to support their favourite shows. Just tossing this out there. Anyone got any ideas?

Got a bit caught up in the moment with all the "fuck Simon" posts yesterday after the episodes dropped. I kinda forgot about the part in book 2 when Grace told Jesse that they were going to wheel MT, and then proceed to sic the Flecs on her after she turned out to be too much of a hassle. And all this because they were trying to separate her from Jesse with no regard for his thoughts in the matter, or with any remorse for her at all. At the end of the day, Grace and Simon are both terrible people with a long way to go for any real redemption, and we've only been reacting so strongly against Simon because we've actually seen him kill a character we cared about.
Ultimately, I am still hoping that Simon won't go the way of Mace. Maybe he won't be fully redeemed, but I am still hoping for a change of heart, if for no other reason than because I'm not especially fond of "irredeemable" child characters. And in this case particularly I don't think I'd like it if they made the most explicitly traumatised character a straight-up villain. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Seriously tho, Infinity Train s3e5 might very well be the first piece of media to leave me absolutely speechless. Like, I sat there, staring at my screen for like a full minute before I regained my composure.
Bloody brilliant

Another update from federally occupied Portland:
Tumblr media
And here’s a video of Portland police officers shoving a random passerby off their bike and arresting them for the crime of…being on the road next to where the sweep was occuring:
And here’s a picture of the armored vehicles they’re bringing in to suppress the protests:
