So, you may be wondering where Hrímfaxi’s name came from. We chose a name that came from V’s side of the family: so naturally “Hrímfaxi” is taken from Norse mythology! “Then Allfather took Night (Nótt), and Day (Dagr) her son, and gave to them two horses and two chariots, and sent them up into the heavens, to ride round about the earth every two half-days. Night rides before with the horse named Frosty-Mane (Hrímfaxi), and on each morning he bedews the earth with the foam from his bit. The horse that Day has is called Sheen-Mane (Skinfaxi), and he illumines all the air and the earth from his mane." (Gylfaginning 10) The name came to us so easily because of this popular painting by Peter Nicolai Arbo (1831-1892) of Nótt riding Hrímfaxi that depicts him as a black/silver dapple horse with flaxen mane and tail! It seemed appropriate to include the accompanying Peter Nicolai Arbo painting of Skinfaxi and Dagr for this post since they are balancing forces of dark and light! The ad that started everything! V found this post on Father’s Day and immediately fell in love. We inquired about him and quickly found ourselves setting up a time to pick him up. The more we read about him the more we liked him! Eddie posted his motorcycle that he had been meaning to list for a while to set us up for cash in hand. We have been saving up for a pony for our Little Wolf but did not quite have enough, yet. The bike sold to a friend that evening and we had a hold on him until the upcoming Friday! It was one of those things that everything lined up for us perfectly!!!
