• Project Description:
An indirect self portrait is a portrait of a subject without directly showing the subject. It can be a collection of objects that have a special meaning to said subject while also having the subjects face hidden amongst the objects. The objects that are displayed can be objects that represent who the subject is, what they do for a living, hobbies they enjoy, things that represent their history or culture or even things they use on a daily basis from things they wear to tools.
When preparing to start this project I asked myself, what objects could stand-in for the parts of who I am? First I thought of my occupations and hobbies and incorporated items that could represent them like drum sticks, a camera and a laptop. Then I chose objects that could express my beliefs like a bible. Finally, I chose objects that have become a part of me like glasses.
