Necron Flayed One, Sautekh Dynasty

First Flayed One I've painted since 2006, back when they were still metal and before they made them ugly and weird looking (I didn't like the corpse backpack and jazz hands era).
I got one of these out after finishing the Twice Dead King books - Fantastic pair of reads if you haven't and you're into Necron lore. Really fleshes out Flayed Ones, makes them quite tragic.

Tyranid Screamer-Killer, Hive Fleet Leviathan

Adored painting this big lass. I've been dying to get my hands on her since the box dropped and finally found the time to get started a few weeks ago.
Big models like this are a challenge purely from surface area. There's a lot to think about, and a lot of free space to possibly fill out - Which works perfectly for my army with their yellow carapace accents.
The head is an alternative 3D print from Hive Delta, I much prefer it to the Danny DeVito head of the original.
Also tried a bit harder on the basing. Keeping with my army's urban theme, I made a wall that I suitably destroyed. Scrawled some cheeky 'The Emperor protects' graffiti across it, which he's doing a superb job of btw...

Tyranid Hive Fleets

I started painting these for a Youtube video, but I guess we can classify this as my Nidvember project.
I've only every painted Leviathan in the 20-ish years of being around Warhammer, and after I had so much fun with the Necron Dynasties I thought I'd dust off my old Termagants and give that a shot.
Was generally a fun aside to what I'm doing, with the exception of Gorgon. That was a nightmare. I won't be returning to that Hive Fleet where I can help it.
The last one is a custom Hive Fleet I painted up using the steps I do across the video, as a sort of demonstration of creating paint schemes. I used Granaldo from Final Fantasy VIII as the starting point for it, as I was playing it at the time and thought I'd be a good Tyranid scheme.

Beastboss Fishbonez, Right 'And of Da Loose Kannon

My Orktober project!
A while back my partner had the superb idea of 'Jinx themed Orks' while watching Arcane. Something about the two just seems to gel!
So for Orktober this year I picked up a Beastboss - A sculpt I've adored since the Beast Snaggas were announced - and got to work conjuring up a scheme.
I kept Jinx's blue hair, her split pants and the pastel blues and pinks, and decided on slapping graffiti over all the gear. Not only is this a throwback to her reveal in League of Legends where she vandalised the game's website, it was also an opportunity to try and mimic the visuals in her mental episodes during the show with fluo paint. I'm very happy with the mini overall, as is Roe whom I gifted this to. Whenever she gets round to painting Orks like this herself, I'll have had a little hand in it which is awesome :) Looking forward to more of Da Inx klan eventually!

Tyranid Barbgaunt, Hive Fleet Leviathan

And that's one of each unit from the Leviathan box done! A good standard to paint the rest to :D
The Barbgaunt was really fun too. Had to paint the cannon twice, as I'd forgotten that I paint weapons red in this scheme, and I did the brain on the parasite twice to get more differentiation between it and the inner flesh. But I'm super happy with the patterning and the dribblys, had some comments that it's reminiscent of Alien Xenomorphs, which is cool af
So ...maybe a big bug next? Give myself a challenge? :o

Tyranid Von Ryan's Leaper, Hive Fleet Leviathan

Bigger critter from the Leviathan box, really enjoyed painting this thing. First time trying clear thread along with UHU for the drool, really like how that looks. Tried a more speckled look for the yellow markings - they're stealth creatures at the end of the day, probably shouldn't be too garish.
Just a Barbgaunt left for one of each unit from the box done, as an example to paint the rest up to!

Tyranid Neurogaunt, Hive Fleet Leviathan

Leviathan dropped and I was excited!
Didn't want to jump on the big critters straight away, and these cute little guys stood out. This is the first pass at my scheme on these, really like how it turned out and I had a blast. Looking forward to cracking through the rest.

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka and Makari

This was a challenge for me!
I assembled and primed Ghaz back in November, having originally intended to build and at least start painting him for Orktober. Never happened, of course. 5 months later, after picking away quietly on him a couple hours here and there, he’s finally done.
I did a lot of learning on this. I didn’t really know how to do Ork skin, ended up learning 3 recipes for it. I’d not done much weathering of metallics before, and didn’t pick up any Dirty Down to make it ‘easier’. And I wasn’t super well versed in freehanding, which I had to get confident with pretty quick with the amount of checkers and the Ork language on the banner. Made my own powders for the base by crushing some old pastels too!
As much fun as I’ve had though, I’m glad they’re done. Giving them away to a good friend, someone who originally got me into the hobby as a thank you for doing so.

Got a request on Youtube for a video on how to do the Szarekhan dynasty, and I had so much fun I went ahead and did 4 other dynasties while I was at it.
Had a ball with these, particularly like how Mephrit and Thokht turned out.
